WordPress Friendly Webhost in Aussie

I'm looking for a decent WordPress friendly hosting company in Australia. Been with two in the past six months but their server settings are not conducive to the optimal running of WP and plug-ins.

I'm currently with Digital Pacific and they will not change these settings stating "stability" reasons. They say I should upgrade to a VPS, but my traffic does not warrant it. I've dealt with many different hosting companies in the rest of the world and none of them have these settings deactivated.

They do say they are wordpress etc friendly, but I'm not sure whether they would be better than what you have.

Is this for an australian gambling portal? If so I was looking for an australian host myself last year for australiancasinos.co and came to the conclusion that none of them allow it in their acceptable use policy (in fact, I spoke to a non-australian company who has servers in Oz and they said that I could host a gambling site on their canadian or european servers, but not their australian ones).

Other affiliates also advised me not to host in Australia if targeting aussies - there are a few threads about it kicking around I think, let me know if you want me to dig them out.

Of course you could just ignore the term and try to get away with it for as long as possible, but you might wake up one morning to find your site shut down. Just FYI.

Thanks baldidiot. Just Googled 'online pokies' and the about 70% of the top twenty search results web sites are not hosted in Australia.

Maybe I should just host it on my own server in SA.
