I have found very good reasonalbe hosting....

Any software rquires customization so I am not sure that is a fair statement. But you must admit with so many free themes plugins etc is a great way to start..

I also have bought some plugins, themse etc later on, but a very good way to enter the market

Most of the SEo plugins for wordpress handle the meta tags, H1, h2, tags, meta tags, etc

becareful with alot of the wordpress seo plugins....

some of these plugins can do more harm than good if not configured correctly.

as with anything, if you're trying to improve positions then you should probably make changes in small amounts... one thing at a time

Yeah. I observed some wordpress blogs loads poorly because of the plugins installed. I think 4 to 5 plugins would be enough in case your target readers are using slow pcs.

Well I have been using Wordpress from many days and you can say that I am wordpress guru. What i love about wordpress the most is it's SEO plugins. Like all in one seo pack, sitemap etc etc. They really help boost site rankings

It's like using Joomla templates to build a project that is ought to dominate the search results...

Havent you noticed that wordpress archives show 99% supplimentary pages?

If I were you all, I'd create my own CMS using thecniques that everyone knows work.
An other issue regarding Wordpress and any blog typed site in general is that the PR flow gets weakened for every new post.
It's just like a newspaper... older news or the non important ones have smaller columns,or are at the end of the read...
A site that contains information that is of permanent value can/will never be hosted on a blog template....

I strongly advise against it...


However if someone really tries using such CMS, try this:
1. Static URL's, avoid dates in the URL!
2. Title and metas should contain key words, or keyphrases
3. Content should contain a visible structure, perhaps H2 H3 tags...
4. Lenght of every post should be set to a minimum of about 300 words
5. Pictures and graphics are always welcome WITH proper alt tags
6. Avoiud links to places that don't reallyfit as authorities OR/AND burry those article-exchanges to lower quality sites somewhere in an archive

It's a clear example of how google indexes blog CMS....just look at the google result for searching for the page

You are way off... all the SEO experts I know love WordPress. While I don't know if it works well as a pure com, for blogs it is #1 by far

Plugins for the most part are for people that don't know what they are doing. If you want to run WP effectively you need to strip it IMO. Plugins bloat code, make the site run slow and are not needed for the most part.

I also agree with l0tso, WP tends to get hacked a lot. There are ways to secure it though if you know what you're doing.

Here are some effective wordpress seo tips:
1. Normally, all WordPress themes comes with the post title as H2. In my opinion you should change it to H1 as it could be the most important title on the page.
2. Add Titles and ALT tags to your smaller images.
3. Optimize page titles and permalinks.
4. Use the meta Description Plugin.
5. To avoid duplicate content issues, use noindex for category, archives, and tags pages.
