Wordpress spacing issue

Anyone know what's going on here... I have a table written purely in html that's added directly to the page via the 'text' editor. Everything works fine but whenever I go to edit the page, it cocks up all the spacing: https://i.snag.gy/lobBY9.jpg (couldn't attach an image for some reason).

Tbh I don't use wordpress as much as I do joomla, so not really come across this before. It looks like it's adding line breaks or paragraphs to cells with links because it's only the bonus and visit cells that are being affected.

If I edit the page to remove the extra line breaks/paragraphs and save it it works fine, but the next time I open the page in the editor it screws it up again.

As a side note, is there an alternative editor for wordpress? I freakin' hate the pseudo 'html' text editor.

I've had similar problems in WordPress when I try to use HTML trying to get the spacing right. One tip I can offer is to make sure that you are using the 'Text' tab and not the 'Visual' tab. The Visual tab will try to auto-format what you are entering, even if it is HTML.

I had this problem last year, I would save the page and it would be fine, but then open the page again and it would add page breaks. I can't remember exactly, but I think if you only open it in TEXT view and not VISUAL, then save that way it should be fine.

Oh ok, so it's the visual editor mucking things up. Is there any way to make it default to the text editor view? I know it goes to the view last used, but often the visual view is used for blog posts (or if someone else is adding content).

Also is there a decent alternative editor for wordpress? Ideally one with a true full html view.

If you go into the Users tab on wordpress and click your login, you'll be taken to an options page where you can select "Disable the visual editor when writing"
