    Default (Yet another) PR Question

    Hiya people

I'm sorry if i missed this before but i tried to look back, honest i did, but my eyes are hurting now. That said, i've found out some well interesting stuff - so thanks for that at least

I've read up on Google PRs and am trying to get quality exchange links. However, if a site is say PR6,and they link back to you down on a page that is PR1 yet under the same domain, I am getting the impression that you get the benefit of PR1 only? I know a lot is down to content relevance but can someone confirm i'm right here?

    Cheers

    Hi Simmo

PR = Page rank and as the title implies, each page has it's own rank. The reason most index pages have the highest PR is because most links point to them. If you built your site with most inbound links pointing to "/mybestfriend.html" then that is the page that will build up the most PR. The PR is then distributed around your site via your internal links.

    Hi Brian

Thanks for that. I got confused as i read up that the word "Page" in page rank was down to Larry Page, the Google founder. So i wondered it was a misleading terminology.

    Cheers

    Default PR Ranking

My suggestion for you is to try to get backlinks to your site that are content relevant. If you can get links from someone home page these are ranked very nicely on Google. I wouldn't pay as much attention to page rank, instead pay attention to the site number of backlinks.

    Just my two cents...
