I have read that Reddit users are not your standard FB type people (at the risk of alienating and insulting FB users), and you will get more interesting conversation than ' I had marmalade on my toast this morning, and here's a picture of it. Whoo-hoooo'.
If that is true of Reddit users in general...then make sure whatever you post is good quality/interesting/controvertial to get traction and interest. I'd say the answer is - if you can post good enough stuff - yes Reddit would most likely send traffic and your link there might have value.

slightly off center but when I was in Perth, Australia just before christmas for the cricket there was a small group of Reddit workers on their christmas do in the boozer
don't quite get whether there is any value in reddit unless you have some decent content that people are interested in

I always thought Reddit was where people talk about the filth they can't talk about elsewhere?
Or am I reading the wrong posts?

Reddit is best site for link and text submission with Alexa rank 80 it has huge traffic specially from USA
bettinganalyst (20 February 2014)
It's worth submitting high quality content, not just 'review of xxx casino'
If you take the time to understand the subreddit your submitting to and the audience and build a very high quality piece of content then you can get lot of potential as people upvote it and give it more visibility. However, people of reddit are very tech-savvy, they understand what linkbait is and aren't a fan of anything to obvious.

Anything even vaguely self promotional on reddit will get shut down very very quickly by the users.
A while ago though I had an article on lottery odds front paged on reddit for a short period of time back when the powerball was massive - traffic was insane and ended up crashing the site. The monetary value of that traffic though was almost zero...

I'll be honest, never even been on the site once in my life, so have no idea what it is other than a vague kind of idea that it has something to do with social sharing?
bettinganalyst (20 February 2014)
It's like most social networks if the user isn't going to get a benefit, they don't interact. Reddit is a strange place and you definitely to spend a lot of time reading before you post. If you don't it would be like going into an old folks home and asking them to download your app.
Sounds like Renee spends too much time browsing the dirty subreddits.

The traffic itself may not be overly valuable, I assume USA traffic looking at lottery odds will be unable to gamble themself or signup through your aff links.
Personally I've had a few gambling signups through reddit but not exactly high value.
I think there maybe some value if your site hits the front page as users are more likely to share your link on fb/twitter as well as link to it from there blogs thereby helping your SEO eforts and creating high quality links.

I find it a good tool to get users' feedback IF you manage to get their attention. Redit is a very particular social network / community, where anything can become viral or get completely ignored (but still generate a backlink). Biggest meme came from Reddit. Won't help your business though.
But i recently read a thread where a guy launching his software targeting gamers simply exposed his frustration and his idea to solve that, and asked what other players think about it. Resulted in inviting them to visit a page introducing the software. Generated 6K+ sign ups for beta tester in couple of days.
So, here it is, if you manage to get in the sub reddit and tak to the right community, you may have something to do with it.
If you're trying to get your site become viral by just posting it, won't happen.
They have over 1 million UV per day, so yes, they definitely have traffic. You can see their stats here. The question is, is it the traffic you are looking for? I guess its worth a try due to the volume. I personally would not waste my time on Reddit. Hate the layout and how the site is structured. The content...as I write someone just posted about their sexual experiences...do I really care? No. If I did, there are other sites for that. Anyways enough of me ranting lol. Has anyone tried Tumblr?

It's one of the sites I'd categorize as 'ugly'. Have no idea if it can play an important role, but reading above, looks like it does not. Never managed to catch my eye, or make me use it. I don't know what people see in it. More like the 'mob mentality' 1 uses it we r all gonna use it.

Maybe that is true. I guess that is what caught my attention. That says a lot about me doesn't it
@Voids - At least I am not the only one in those dirty subreddits?

Reddit is awesome and sends steady traffic. While the site has a massive number of users, the gambling related subreddits don't exactly have a huge number of readers. However, posting links and text posts is still well worth it.
