Hi -

Has anyone got experience of building a YouTube channel with gambling content? I assume uploading gambling content in the form of review videos of casinos and games doesn't break the rules on the platform, providing your are not actually advertising with click-throughs for affiliate commissions.

Is there any sense that the rules might change in the future?

I have tried YouTube and still am doing it - if you find the right spot / topic / video it actually works and converts.
That said, videos that relate to gambling will quite often be taken down, so before you make one I'd recommend spending some time on researching what you can say / show vs what you shouldn't.

I haven't had any problems with my Channel. I use it to post video reviews of Live Games as they come out.

I adhere to the ASA standards and include agegating on the videos and 18+ etc in the descriptions and on the vids themselves.

I put links in the descriptions back to the written review on my site, just don't put aff links in the descriptions. It's all legal and above board with Youtube.

You can't monetinze your channel though as it's gambling content, which is a shame as it provided me with some income.

I find it's a good source for raising awareness of your site and brand and gives you some authority.

I get a fair amount of clicks back to the reviews, which have the aff links in them.

PS it is worth also loading the vids onto Vimeo or one of the other platforms, so if Youtube ever does take your channel down you can redirect your webpages to somewhere else to view the videos.

That works well even with some random edit videos but is more about YT algo how you will rank, oc as better and uniq that video is then better, but again you can start without investing any € and see the first results.
Also important to have good description, some KW and timeline if it´s a long clip.

You select 18+ when you upload the video. This means only logged in viewers with a verified account will be able to see your videos.

As mentioned above, do not put affiliate links in the description - neither raw links nor redirects from your own domain. YouTube will spot these and close the channel at some point.

You may want to make the video private and label it 18+ plus (as other members said) use vimeo and other platforms.

I haven't done it for my own business, but I have worked for a couple of clients writing their scripts.

It's fundamental to find an approach that allows you to talk about your business and convert without explicitly telling people to gamble and without promoting a betting site. You can talk about the games, their evolution or profitability, and then link to your site.

I recommend you keep in mind that you will not be able to monetize your channel and that advertising can be difficult. If that doesn't bother you, it's a worthwhile effort in the long run.
