I meant the best SEO is often no SEO. E.g. many ppl still solve how to make links, how many H2's should be on page. Google does not care that much. Ages ago, you had to put there nice anchor links (maybe), years ago, everyone was editing the anchored links to some generic "click here" etc. Nowadays this is minor problem, but yet ppl are too concerned about it. In this way I advised to forget about seo.

And one more note: even for experienced marketers most great ideas simply do not work. Or they work but not as much and people then fall into false impression that this is their limit. Getting traffic is simply never ending self learning process. 5 months and no traffic? Wasted time. You are free to do anything you want. Even the hardest and most stupid spams better than sitting and doing nothing.

My ex-friend was a very good tennis bettor. I used to travel with him for tennis tournaments just for fun. He later started a website that was full of very interesting stuff, but he failed. He was weak, he did not want to do this. To promote the webiste might take much more time and for sure many times more energy than the content creation. Ask yourself if you are prepared for it.

There are two strong pieces of advice:

''Make the website good for visitor and retention'' Absolutely. This is on page SEO. Personally I believe this can be done in a way that gives the visitor the desire to stay and revisit, while also spelling out to a search engine what the page is all about (and without spamming). There's an art to this. Yes it has less impact nowadays than it would have done in the past...and there are a number of factors outside of what you have on a page which will/might be affecting its ranking...but still I believe it has (some) value (from direct, and recent, experience).

''Build your brand on forums'' - Yes. With the knowledge link22 clearly has about women's tennis, it would be wise to join a reputable/well trafficked forum and display that knowledge. A very quick search and found tennisforum (dot) com. Looks to be a useful starting point.
BIB were you specifically referring to pages on my site or talking in general?

If you're referring to the last bit of the bolded bit, no it wasn't referring to anything I'd seen on tennispunt.

Factors affecting the ability of a page to rank (well) are manyfold. Is that what you meant?

I am an advocate of good safe, SEO, both on-page and off-page. Telling people SEO doesn't matter or that links don't matter is just wrong. Google does care, you just have to do it right. Content is king of course, but a few good, high quality, safe links can go a long way in getting better ranking/respect from Google.

Do your keywords rank well in SERP?
Have you analyze your competitors site? And see how they rank well on SERP? It might help for you and your site to get more ideas.
Lastly, have you tried sharing your content on social networking sites like twitter, facebook or google+?
If not, then I think you should, and you should take advantage of using those free tools to reach your potential prospects.

    Definitely yes.

But have you tried to teach SEO someone? I did. I put a lot of effort into it and I mostly failed. Because human brain is tricky. Start telling complete newbie about SEO and he will focus on the glory SEO too much. This guy likes to write the content and it is important for him to stay as he is. The "few links", I would rather say the "steady inflow of links" as someone proposed can be achieved here without special focus on the SEO, especially when those links can be joined with other SEO signals.

Not everyone is SEO expert and for the newbies I have seen better a very conservative way. Not to mention that this guy will simply not get the "good, high quality, safe links" for a very long time, even when he probably deserves them more than 99% websites of gpwa owners.

    Haven't focused too much on Keywords, other than i am using keywords in blog posts and as labels which i know people will be searching in Google such as 'preview, betting tips' and things like that. Each time i write an article it's shared on Google+, and i'm regulary using Twitter to post articles and talk about matches etc;

This might be a daft question from me...but do you engage with others in your field too? (follow them, retweet, comment on their stuff etc - as opposed to just posting links to your previews etc)

Hi! You need time, adding quality content frequently, promoting your content, etc. few income links per month (but slowly because your site is young one). You hot-water boiled, set-up few pages and think "the world is mine!" hehehe competition is "huge" nowadays.
But, never give up and do not expect miracles, overnight.
By the way, you are good in writing about tennis !!??
I'm looking for quality unique 500+ words article: "Beginners Guide To Tennis Betting", for my directory (first link in signature). You will get valuable long-term link pointing to your site, in exchange. It's up to you.

Ok that sounds good. The more you interact (without necessarily promoting your own site all the time), the more they will notice you. The more they notice you, the more they will want to see what you know.

And we go full circle. If you have a strong site, with valuable stuff on it, well written etc etc...then eventually one of those other sites may link to you unasked.

Hahahaha "unasked". You amused me! The theory that when you have great content then you attract hundreds of links "unasked" is a myth. You can get few links - that's all. The truth is that we have to "manage" links by yourself, especially in gambling niche that do not get links (in natural way) from other than gambling sites.

Sure. By 'unasked' I meant most likely a very small number, most likely in single digits under 2 or 3 ...and I said may link to you too

But if one of those sites is a big one it could turn out to be a very valuable link.

It's not totally impossible to get unasked for links. Very difficult yes, very unlikely yes. But if you make the contacts and get known it becomes easier and opens ways to 'ask' too.

The amount of genuine links is for sure correlated with your creative marketing.

I wouldnot say few links. Site will get most probably 0 genuine links or very very much links- in case you hit some meme, opinion leader twitter bomb etc. Nothing in between.

The sport niche and the gambling niche are related, but not the same. In gambling niche it is nearly impossible to hit the nail, in sport niche it is possible and cause buzz. However you will draw attention with million times more probability when you post exclusive pics of pussy of Ana Ivanovic than with brilliant analysis of serve of Novak Djokovic. That is the (sad) fact and this is why the articles should be adjusted accordingly (and this is why we do not see much of serious stuff nowadays).

Yeahhh, you are right! Now, you make me curious how do you make that "contacts" ??!!
Yes, please, all of you on this forum, please give me good contacts!! I want more links to my site
Seriously, it's hard to promote gambling site and site owners are so jealous about their sites and links.
I wrote several messages to the webmasters of other gambling directories to exchange links and to support
each other. Links from one gambling directory to another one could strongly support each other site.
    Never got any answer

I have stated I am talking about sport niche not gambling niche. I have written it here more times that advices from 100% betting sites are irrelevant. Gambling is the toughest niche, fortnately OP can choose not so difficult task.

It is much more easy to get backlinks outsideof gambling niche because teh other webmasters see that your site is not pure greed, so they are not that greedy as well.

I almost do not have gambling sites but sport sites for this reason.

    My answer was to chaumi.
However, i agree with you. Sport niche is much easier to promote even if you have betting and bookmaking articles inside.
It's interesting that your friend was (is?) good tennis bettor and started site. I remember good team of forex players from Germany - they made thousands of euros playing forex. They started a very quality site with all that forex analysis, etc. and failed.
But, we stupid webmasters will win!! All competitors will fail or get bored, abandon their sites and we win!
