Advice for a newbie

Hi all, I have been reading posts on here for the last few months as part of my research and decided to finally sign up. Little bit about me I am currently working full time on a graduate scheme. My plan has always been to eventually be able to live off my own business.

Now onto my site, I believe I have come up with a niche idea in the very popular football betting category. I have been researching and collecting data for the past two months. Few questions that I would like to ask;

1) Did you set yourself targets in terms of monthly views, affiliate sign ups etc

2) Before setting up your site did you have experience creating or running a website?

3) Have you paid someone to create your website or did you design it yourself?

4) How important do you view social media for not only increasing your brands presence but increasing your traffic

5) Do you find the sign up % from traffic direct from social media to significantly less compared to other traffic to your site?

no we did not. We didnt knew what to expect

yes we did. Had Some other affiliate sites before

Nope. Made the website ourselves

If you have a good game plan for social media it could be interesting for increasing traffic and for getting a better reputation with Google
5) Do you find the sign up % from traffic direct from social media to significantly less compared to other traffic to your site?
in our case SEO traffic is 90% of the traffic and sign ups

I did everything myself to start with. It will take a lot of time, but you'll learn it all sooner or later.
It's hard to set targets in the beginning because nothing will happen on the site for a long time.
I suggest you celebrate your first customers, when you reach 10 visiters per day and when you have added a certain amount of text on your site.
I have not worked with social media at all so I can't answer that question.
