I personally find that social media advertising is the best way to promote affiliate marketing for your websites. It has helped me a lot and I have seen an increased amount of traffic and visitors as a result of doing this.

Organic is the best, but can take time and money to build.. other methods are faster but usually not comparable with conversions

When you own your website you try do do and invest in good quality of content. All the others at some point can lead you in a one way street. For example if you put a lot of effort on social marketing - FB closed most recently thousands of pages( your business) is ruined.

Organic traffis is the best but you have to put a lot of efforts and money on it.

Emailers at some point become very shady and chased by GDPR.

Giving free tips can be changed with no deposit bonuses or special conditions that some bookies give to respected affiliates.

Most of my sites are only promoted via Social Media as the search terms would be way to difficult to try and tackle
Plus the whole "community" thing about social media really gets people interacting with your page etc which really helps with traffic.

It is quite difficult to promote using social media, as you need to know how the rating system of that exact social media works. For example, I could not understand, how Twitter shows posts: the impressions may vary for even three times or more for posts placed at the same time each day with almost the same set of hashtags. The only thing I found is that posts with the image as usual get more impressions. At the same time, there are very few link clicks even if there are several hundreds of impressions (it could be the problem with the text - visitors just are not interested in reading what is there).
At the same time, paid campaigns like Google Ads have limited effect that lasts only for short period of time, so they could be used just to "boost" the number of visitors to inform the community about your new website.

I suspect that whichever way you attack this industry, if you do it consistently and do it well then you'll do OK. If anyone expects to find a pot of gold for little effort then unlikely to happen unless they're extremely lucky.

Personally speaking, the free tips angle is great for traffic, however that traffic over time becomes saturated because you end up with masses of repeat visits and you're attempting to convert players that you've spoken too hundreds of times before on the same subject and in all likelihood they've already got an account or are never going to get one with said bookie.

Search engine traffic is by far the best converting type of traffic. Social media is not too bad, depending on which sites you are talking about, but nothing comes close to search engine traffic.
