When did you launch your site?

On Christmas Eve 2007. In 2006, I launched a private website, but it was one of those ďall about everythingĒ sites.

How did you become involved in the industry?

During my first year at University I met a guy who bet. He used to bet a lot of money (not always successfully) and I thought that betting might be interesting.

How long did it take for your site to start earning money?

The reasonable profits started after six months.

In your GPWA member details you list your occupation as ďprofessional gambler.Ē Does gambling account for most of your income, or do you earn more from

At the moment I earn more from running as since summer of 2014 Iíve had no time for betting. I try to focus on my website to make it more effective: Visitors may find more information about winning more money from bookmakers and the time I spend on work is worth more money.

Which gambling activities do you prefer?

I prefer trading while watching tennis matches. I think that tennis is more interesting than football; itís more dynamic, and a football match can go on for 90 minutes without any goal. Besides, when I did my research, I found out that tennis is more profitable for me than football.

Are you a one-person shop or are you part of a larger organization?

Definitely a one-person shop. What I do is manage the website as a betting expert and organize tasks for the IT specialists who work for me. A larger organization is not one of my aims, because the legal situation of online betting in Poland is uncertain and I do not want to leave my country.

Describe your work environment. Do you work from home or in an office? If you work from home, how often do you get to see and interact with other people in the industry?

For the last five and a half years I used to have a full-time job, so I used to work in an office. Now, as is my only job, I work from home. I have so much work to do that I donít have much time to interact with other people apart from answering e-mail (which takes one to two hours a day) and writing posts on Facebook (three times a week) and on the website (latest comments and news).

What traits do you look for in an affiliate manager? How about in an affiliate program?

I think that the most important traits of an affiliate manager are analytical thinking and being articulate, which are useful in finding ideal partners. In affiliate programs I appreciate an individual approach and basic honesty.

Whatís your preferred method of communication with affiliate managers? Do you like to talk on the phone, by e-mail or via Skype?

I definitely like sending e-mail, but Skype is indispensable in urgent cases.

What prompted you to join the GPWA? How has it helped you?

I heard that the GPWA is the most reputable forum for affiliates and I always do my best to cooperate with the best. I wanted to make more reputable through cooperation with the GPWA.

Describe the current status and condition of online gaming in Poland.

Since Jan 1, 2010, it is forbidden to bet with online bookmakers who do not have a Polish gambling license. However, due to the European law, bookmakers' licenses given by countries that are members of the EU should be regarded as valid also in Poland. Because the European law is superior to the local one, bookmakers that have a European license operate in Poland legally. In 2014, players were punished for online gambling for the first time. The fines were about 2,000 to 3,000 PLN (500 to 750 EUR), which is not much. The situation will not be clear until one of the players refuses to pay the fine and is taken to court. Nonetheless, more and more Poles are betting online. In 2014, four new bookmakers decided to enter the Polish betting market, which confirms that betting is an important part of the Polish lifestyle.

You seem to stress a data-driven approach to sports betting. What are the key elements you follow to handicap a match?

Statistics are the basis. Almost every match can be described by a mathematical model, if the match does not differ too much from a normal match. This means that the model assumptions must be met. That is why any unusual information may be more important for making a bet than if the odds were based on statistics only. Recent injuries, changes in the lineup or motivation factors are very important.

How large a sample do you believe you need to have in order to demonstrate that you can beat a bookmaker's odds on a long-term basis?

I believe 100 bets at the decimal odds of 2.0 are enough to prove if someone is able to beat the bookmaker or not. In practice it should be around 200, but this requires twice as much time to find many valuable bets.

One of the things you point out on your site is that it is difficult to find good tipsters. Do you pay attention to anyone else's analyses? Or do you only handicap games yourself?

Today it is harder to find analyses than it was a few years ago Ė especially when youíre looking for good ones. I built my knowledge by reading tipsters' analyses, but it required reading many of them before I could rely on my own research. Sometimes I ask other players Ė individuals who in my opinion are experts Ė what they think of my picks.

Your site doesn't appear to sell picks. Have you ever considered doing that?

No, because selling picks has never been any of my goals. I prefer to focus on building the betting knowledge of my readers. Besides, there are plenty of sites that sell picks and are better at providing them than my site is.

Do you make more money betting on games or through your affiliate relationships with online sportsbooks?

    From affiliate relationships.

What do you like about the industry?

I like that after about three to five years of learning, it is possible to make a constant profit from betting that is similar to the national average salary.

If you could change one thing about the industry, what would it be?

I would change the Polish law so that bookmakers could operate as they do for example in the U.K. The current situation is very bad for Polish sports because bookmakers are basically not allowed to sponsor them and the betting industry is a part of the gray market.

What do your family and friends think of your work as an affiliate?

Many of them do not know what I do, and I do not tell them more than I have to. Most people have difficulties in understanding how it is possible to make a profit from betting.

How long do you give yourself for answering e-mail? What e-mail tips can you offer?

I do my best to answer as soon as possible, but in some cases it takes time to figure out a reasonable response if someone has problems with a withdrawal or is accused of bonus abuse and asks for help. I do not use prepared, standard forms because an individual approach is what I consider to be the most important.

How do you manage your ďto-doĒ lists? Do you use any special software to help you out?

I have a binder to keep all my ideas written down on loose papers together. I also use a separate folder for all the necessary files on my PC. Nothing special.

How much time do you devote to SEO and/or social networking in order to drive more traffic to your sites?

SEO is in my opinion something that can be done by outsourcing. Finding a reliable company is a very time-consuming process, but once it is done, it saves a lot of work. Supervising, reading reports, making conclusions, etc., takes usually a few hours a week. Social networking means another two hours a week.

Whatís the most difficult thing about running your site?

The most difficult thing is deciding what to do next. There are many opportunities to develop my website, but I donít have enough time to do everything I would like to, which makes me focus on the priorities.

Whatís the best thing about running your site?

The best thing is that I am free and that I do what I want, not what I have been told to do.

What do you do to stay in shape Ė both physically and mentally?

    I play football and chess.

Sell us your city: What's the best part of living in Cracow?

Cracow is a place I have known since I was born. Most of the monuments do not impress me, so I would say that the nightlife in Market Square is the best part of living here.

If someone were visiting you, whatís the one place youíd definitely take them to see?

I would take them to the Wawel Royal Castle, which is situated on the banks of the Vistula River. Thanks to the spectacular view, it is a wonderful place for a long walk and also presents an ideal occasion to hear one of the stories about the Wawel Dragon, which enjoyed eating young maidens.

When you need to get as far away from work as possible, where do you go?

The only time I donít think about my website is when Iím playing football. The rest of the time, whatever I do, I keep wondering what more I can do.

You list math, chess and the guitar as interests on your GPWA profile page. How does music fit into your life as a mathematician and games player?

I love rock and rock metal music. It makes me relax and gives me positive energy. I started playing guitar to impress girls when I was a teenager.

    Whatís your favorite vacation spot?

Rhodes, Greece. It's the place where I had the best holidays in my whole life.

    Whatís your all-time favorite movie?

I canít answer this question: Some bookies set up this question as a password reminder!

If you could invite any five people, living or dead, to dinner, who would they be?

Assuming that there would be no language problems, I would invite only Jesus Christ, because I would like to ask him what to do to be saved by God. Any food left over I would eat with my wife.

What are three things that nobody knows about you?

Iím sure I donít know, either. My wife says that she is never sure what I am going to do next, and I think that nobody knows it.
