Default Affiliate Manager Proposing Change of Plan

    Hi

So I am relatively new to the online gambling business with just over 1-year experience

I get about 50-70k visitors in any given month, and I generate about a 200-click throughs on my main affiliate program per month (I dont target aggressively) My problem is that very few (1% or less) of those 200-click throughs actually goes on and register.

Anyway I don't care to much about low signup rate, since I am slowly starting to win over the trust of my users, regulars are coming back more often, people are starting to follow my advice, and I have managed to build up a solid reputation.

I aim for atleast another year before I get to my goal of profit $1000p.m

    My Question / Problem?

I don't know if my main affiliate manager is all that patient though. I am on a 40% CPA currently. However, I have just received an email stating that she wants to move me to a 5% Rev model. Changing me to a subaffiliate (what does that mean?)

The email makes it out to be a good thing, is it really? Should I accept this OR is it a slap in the face from the manager, with my site perhaps not living up to the expectations they were hoping for?

(I told them from the very start they need to be patient and they paid me upfront to be associated with my site for what that is worth.)

Would love to hear from experienced affiliates what they can make out from the above.

    Thanks

Nish them off, it is there short sightedness and will be there loss in the long run. Affiliate programs need to understand startups need time to grow there core base but they want instant results.

I would not accept those terms and seeing as you have not got many signups yet no great loss unless of course you brought in a whale and they're trying to rip you off. You could try explaining but what is the point.

    Thank for that mate.

Browsing through the forum, it looks like many people seem to prefer a revshare model -- or is the 5% just abnormally low?

The 5% terms I have seen are generally when they impose quotas that need to be met, just their way of not paying you what you are owed.

Sorry I misread originally thought it was 40% re share. But same applies I would of thought.

It is a bit ironic since I made my 1st withdrawal today of 100 and then that email came through

It is unfortunate that programs will reduce commissions after such a short period of time. When new and starting it takes time to build traffic etc. Whats ironic is when commission rates are dropped you would want to spend more time on those programs that are still offering a higher commission so the ones that have reduced the commissions lose. Why promote a 5% program when there are higher ones.

    is it 40% CPA or 40% Rev.share?
If it is CPA, what is 40% CPA???
Isn't the 5% an extra if you refer other affiliates?

Sounds like you were on 40% revshare (percentage of profits) and they moved you to 5% as you were not delivering X amount of players, when this happens feature them in the rogue section of your website, make sure to tell players they are not to be trusted ext unless you agreed upon those terms when you registered. If that is the case simply remove the brand all together and find a reputable one that has 35% or greater for life.

The question here is with what % you are satisfied.
How many deposit players do you bring per month?

For 5% it's not going to be worth your while promoting them. Switch to another provider, or more to spread the risk around a bit.

Rev share is the way to go and between 25% - 35% should be attainable without too many problems. When your conversions grow, you'll be able to increase this a little.

Were there any terms in place for this? Did they pay it based on some kind of performance? X number of new players per month etc?

I think first you need to clarify whether you meant 40% rev share. I assume you did. If you made a withdraw of 100 then that must mean you met your obligation for the prepaid monies. Correct? If that is the case I would NEVER accept a 5% rev share model. I am also assuming here you are promoting casinos.

So..... If you are on a 40% rev share and you met your obligation and paid back the money they gave you up front, if they insist on moving you to 5% simply promote someone else BUT make sure they do not try any crazy stuff like moving the players you already have to 5% rev share. If they would try that continue to get help here on this forum as that is not fair.

To be honest (based on my assumptions above) I would promote someone else regardless. I would not be anxious to continue working with them after they have tried to do this. This may be an opportunity for you to promote someone else in your top spots and see if you get better results from another program. It sounds like you already have a base of players so you would still earn while gaining a player base somewhere else.
