Although we often say that Alexa rankings should be taken with a grain of salt, it is my belief that not one free tool out there can truly dissect a website. I believe that using multiple tools (paid and unpaid) , cross-referencing, and analysing results; this is the best way to proceed when using web tools.

If you'd like to know which tools I use, feel free to get in touch.

Alexa itself does NOT help get high pr and traffic. This statement alone makes it appear the post is nothing more than BS to raise post count for links.

If an affiliate program is not small affiliate friendly (especially small US Affiliate), then they are NOT Affiliate Friendly!

Alexa ranking only helps to attract visitors otherwise it has no effect in terms of search engine optimization according to my research.

If you want a traffic estimator use Search Metrics, it's actually somewhat reasonable as opposed to the Alexa rankings which are just gibberish.

It helps Webmasters and advertisers see the true marketing potential of your Web site. The better your Alexa rank, the higher they will be willing to bid to buy advertising space on your Web site.
Personal pages or blogs are taken into consideration and ranked in the same manner as regular Web sites.

A better ranking at Alexa ONLY means more people visit your site with the toolbar loaded and it has been proven to be easily maniplulated.

People that bid higher based upon Alexa ranking do not understand how the rank can be manipulated.

The only benefit from Alexa: You receive a backlink to your site.

It's nofollow, but if you don't want to end as a one-day wonder, you need a healthy mix between dofollow and nofollow links.

    That is completly incorrect.

It ONLY shows ranking from those who use the Alexa toolbar.

This means that sites that target webmasters, or those who use the alexa toolbar will rank better.

YEARS ago we ran a test here and proved this theory that alexa ranks could be easily manipulated.

^^ This. It amazes me, that sometimes, even affiliate managers use it, and refer to it in an email... and act shocked when I blow it off. Anything that requires an extra tool to be downloaded and installed would be way off, as there's a good chance lots of people wont have it. Now if all major browsers unite and create a tool that measures the amount of entries on a given website, that I'd believe.
