Default Another payment processor arrest in U.S.

The June 1st deadline for the implementation of the UIGEA is literally right around the corner (next week). Depending on who you listen to, it could be like Y2K (a lot of noise but no effect) or be a legitimate blow to the industry. It seems like every few weeks there's a report of a payment processor arrest in the U.S., so here's this week's story.

A Missouri man faces money-laundering charges in Maryland for online gambling funds. Kenneth Wienski is "accused of helping to concoct an online gambling payment-processing scheme that hid the true nature of the transactions by moving funds through a medical-billing company and a check-processing company where he worked."

Baltimore's City Paper has all the details:

Default Abridged version here if it's useful

It won't matter either way. There will be someway around it as there's always been. It was like prohibition, people always found a way to get their brew.

Mastercard has already blocked most transactions related to gaming which leaves Visa as the only player. They are likely going to follow MC suit anyway so passed or not, it will be become that more harder.
