Another Scam - Managers please read!

Hi

I have been alerted by a very kind manager, that they received the following email today basically trying to scam managers and brands, using our brand, and pretending to be us.

The email is

"Affiliate Manager ,

We are looking for a good brand to send our UK and German traffic to. I want to touch base to see if we can work something out.

I also wanted to see if you would be at the Amsterdam affiliate conference in June to setup a meeting. Please shoot me an email or feel free contact me on Skype!

We have never, and would never email managers looking for brands. It seems the emails have gone to brands were not currently working with. Also, it would seem they have bought the domain lowriskwinnerS.com and are simply 301 redirecting it to my site www.lowriskwinner.com.

What is frustrating too, is the fact that this guy is using the first name Matt, which is further confusing managers, as my genuine business partner, Matt French is obviously called "Matt" and has been introduced to managers, as "Matt". Hence, this morning a brand I work with said "Oh, Matt emailed me earlier"

Anyway, This is DEFINATELY not us, and we are alarmed by the fact they seem to want to schedule meetings essentially as us for AAC, and goodness knows what they are trying to gain.

If you got the email, can you let me know, be interesting to see how far they have gone with it.

Interesting to see what he puts back to it. My only guess is he is trying to potentially get tenancy payments up front or something, but what will a meeting achieve? The mind boggles

We got the email (twice) this morning. I replied pretty much the same as Ryan and didn't get a reply yet. Will let you know if he comes back with anything.

Well I replied before I read this thread

so I stayed generic to work out what they were looking for.

I have learned as well guys, they are "hosting" on this http://www.anonhoster.com/ which appears to be an anonymous hosting solution!

Safe to say they've put thought into this!

Which never is a good thing.... also worrying they are brazen enough to try meet up at Amsterdam

Hey Rick

The name servers, ns1.anonhoster.com are they all registered under the same address?

I have the IP for the www.anonhoster.com site and it IS 82.192.79.166 - Can you confirm that this is also registered under the LeaseWeb company? I did a check and it's location comes up as the Netherlands

OK Sent an email to the host - Thanks Rick, I pinged the domain and did get an IP, but never crossed my mind to do an IP lookup.

Next, I wanna try and contact the domain provider, to stop him simply going to another host.
