What I did was look to see where the dns servers' parent domain was dns'ed....

The name servers for the lowriskwinnS_com parent domain is anonhoster_com and that domain is dns'ed on the IP I mentioned above. That domain parent had 4 name servers (two each in 2 different class c's) and both class c's are leased from the above mentioned group.

Like I have said in posts in the past, I normally suggest starting at the web host (which in this case is anonhoster) but if needed to climb the ladder the above may help others figure out what the next level up step would be.

The reason to start with the actual host (even if a sub reseller or shared hosting etc) they are the ones ultimately responsible and in most cases starting higher up the ladder will just delay everything since as you climb the ladder, most service provider will check with their clients etc until it is determined what is taking place and who is responsible.

IP's and rack space could easily be leased and re-leased numerous times until the actual hosts are found....and due to contracts etc, most service providers are not just going to unplug a rack, switch or server no matter how big of a complaint it is, even with legal paperwork due to it affecting other clients in the same ip space.

I'm guessing he's not actually daft enough to show up at a conference - probably just part of his trick.

I spoke to him on skype and arranged a meeting at AAC. He didn't mention anything about doing a deal before the conference.

So not quite sure what his intentions are!

Had the following reply from Philip Katrine - philip@bigwinpicture.com

    "Ryan,

Thank you for the email. We can send you around 50-100 players in May if the deal is right... Let me know what your terms are and I will see if I can get it approved."

    Ignored it so far.

Thank you for everyone's input on this and thank you GPWA for providing the platform to warn others, particularly Probability Affiliates, we're so glad you never got bitten by this guy. After a bit of hard work we've managed to remove the redirect from the lowriskwinnerS.com (remember for our website, the S is for scammer) which is a move in the right direction.

I can only hope that, as this is a popular scam, that affiliate programs can develop a security protocol to validate webmasters are, who they say they are. i.e. some sort of file upload, like google webmaster tools uses for instance? Especially when pre-paid tenancies are on the table.

Thanks again everyone, and keep the information flowing about these scammers.

What if you used htaccess to bounce the redirect traffic to a page somewhere (on another site or free blog maybe) saying 'the person who contacted you is a scammer'. Just in case he's still at it...

Ey this was the first thing we looked into, both via htaccess and php. Both failing. The reason being they were hiding their HTTP Referer header. So we had no way of blocking it. We tried IP blocking and all sorts with no success. Which suggests to me these scammers know what they're doing... unfortunately.

    Hi everyone,

we've been tracking this scammer for quite a while now - every now and then we receive responses from affiliate managers that we have no ongoing business with, stating 'Hi Philip....'

SO to make it absolutely clear, we have NOTHING TO DO with this Philip Katrine character, who is a scammer and been abusing other affiliates too.

You'll find the REAL team BigWinPictures (representatives for www.bigwinpictureS.com - trusted affiliate site) in Amsterdam's affiliate conference next month. If you are attending - come and say hi to us!

ps. For all affiliate managers that have been contacted by this scam-artist: the primary contact for bigwinpictureS.com is always admin@bigwinpictures.com

    br,
    Team BigWinPictures

This guy has popped up again.

He added me on skype over the weekend, I've not had a chance to talk to him but he's using the same profile photo as before and he now goes by the name "Hans Schwab" and skype name is "hans_casinoverdiener". So looks like he'll do the round again.
