    Default Australia does it again...

Well it seems overnight the Australian government has proven once again that our political system is a bit retarded.

We have a new prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, again by over ruling the current PM.

To be fair, I thought Abbott was a douchebag. Although this happening again makes us look like we are incompetent. After all, the Australian people did vote him in. I'd like to think voters looked beyond him when they were voting, I know I certainly did. Doesn't make the blow less harsh though.

The new PM openly supports gay marriage which is what I saw mainly on my newsfeed last night, as well as something about women's rights. Tony Abbott was the minister for women and did nothing so I guess there will be some changes soon.

I don't really follow politics much tbh, but apart from Oz looking incredibly silly I'm sure this can only be a good thing.

Anyone else got some thoughts? It would be interesting to know what people who don't live here think about it. Has it been in the news at all?
I also haven't done any research yet to see what his thoughts are on online gaming but it might be interesting to see if anything changes considering Abbott was total right wing, christian etc etc.

On BBC if I am not mistaken they mentioned that after 5 years nothing has changed in Australia and nothing will with new PM.

Didn't notice anything on the news in the UK about this (though I don't watch loads). Every time I turn our news on we are being bombarded with the refugee crisis and how we should be taking in thousands more into the country. That is apparently the only news we have in the UK.

Yeah they replaced the PM the other night which is why I posted.
Maybe you guys are running on "Mykonos time" there, a few days behind

So they haven't mentioned anything since the replacement?

Apparently he supports gay marriage but he is leaving it as it was and letting the country vote on it.
He is also leaving the carbon emissions scheme as is. I think I read the other day that he wants to make businesses pay for their emissions. I guess that means passing costs onto consumers. As if it's not already expensive enough to live here.

The one thing the liberal party has is the ability to get our country back into surplus. Then Labor gets in and spends all the money and the libs have to come back and clean up their mess.

It will be very interesting to see what happens at the next election.

Since 2013, we've had Kevin Rudd. then Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott and now Malcolm Turnbull. It's ridiculous!

It is! It makes us look so pathetic. The Rudd-Gillard govt set a bad precedent and we need someone to break the habit now. I hope this is the last time we see this.

Also, I wish we could bring back Johnny.

What do you mean he did nothing for women?!? He told us he axed the carbon tax so housewives would be happier paying less for the groceries and doing the ironing! Never mind the welfare of the planet we live on, you can thank Tony Abbott every time you do the ironing Renee!

Yes he really is a bona-fide 1950s throwback. Actual for real quote from our now ex-PM:
“What the housewives of Australia need to understand as they do the ironing is that … their own power bills when they switch the iron on are going to go up.”
This is a hilarious and bang-on look at Australia's very own George W. Bush:

I used to wonder how stupid could the people have been to vote for GWB in America but now I understand. So many people vote for one party or the other like a football team they support, regardless of who they are or what they say or do. And then you end up with halfwits like "Tony dumb-dumb" in charge (apologies to all halfwits, no offence intended).

I have no love for any politicians and rarely vote for either of the major parties here. But this guy was the lowest of the low. He was a complete and utter embarrassment and a clown. And now we get to pay this idiot over $300k a year for the rest of his life for somehow hoodwinking his way to the top. It could have been worse though. If he had been in the job another 4 days he would have qualified to get over $500k a year instead. Thank goodness for small mercies.

I am so glad our "suppository of all wisdom" is gone. Hopefully Turnbull can push the rest of the ultra-conservative tossers and bigots out the door with him.

I'm doing my country a disjustice. I haven't ironed anything for about 10 years. Wonder what Tony would say about that!

I think you have a point there about the voting. Although I've always thought the leader is just the front man for the party's policies. Doesn't help when your leader is a knob jockey.

That is definitely the best compilation of Tony Dumb Dumb I've seen. Made me LOL.
My favourite part is when he said (paraphrased) Jesus knew.. and it's some people's place not to come to Australia.

Ha. Better get back to the ironing!

Funny story. A few weeks ago I was at a function and Tony Dumb-Dumb was there too. He was posing for selfies and photos with people so some of my mates went up to get a photo. I didn't as I figured a glass of wine and something to eat was preferable. One friend of mine and his wife took it in turns to take photos of each other with Abbott. He now possesses a photo with Tony staring straight at wife's tits while she is smiling for the camera. It has turned into a bit of a family classic. The poor girl, she wants it destroyed but there's no way that is going to happen.

Don't forget to get back to the kitchen Renee! After you finish the ironing of course.

This one was too good not to share.
    muppet you'll love this one:

    hxxp://www.theshovel.com.au/2015/09/14/australian-women-left-directionless-after-minister-for-women-loses-job/

“I fear that Malcolm Turnbull will bring back some sort of price on carbon. Where does that leave woman’s rights? Where does that leave equality? Where does that leave equal pay for equal work?” Josie Thompson of Brisbane said, adding that Mr Abbott had done more for ironing costs in this country than any other leader in living memory.
    Bahahahaha.
