    Default Avoiding Forum Spam

I know many of you have forums. I have had the problem with my Vbulletin forums in the last few weeks of getting massive new sign-ups all posting spam.

These are all done automatically by spam bots. These spam bots are even so smart they bypass the captcha.

With that said I implemented a simple solution on the registration page that takes care of all the bots.

There is a mod called "Nospam!" found on vbulletin.org. Works like a charm and takes a few seconds to set up. I highly reccomend it to anyone else dealing with increased spam on VB forums lately.

I have installed a quality VBulletin Mod, which does not allow people to register if it takes them under a predefined time. I have it currently set at 15 seconds. The admin of the forum subsequently receives an automated mail each time a bot has been denied access from signing up. The output of the mail is as below:

    Subject: User Blocked from Registering

The following user name with email address was blocked by the Is Bot mod: FilmCriticAwesome - myfilmlove281@bonbon.net (6 seconds transpired)
This mod, basically stops around 30 bots a day from signing up to my casino forum and has saved me a lot of work, deleting and editing posts as a result. If you want a copy of the mod, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it over.

I use phpBB (I hate it), I'm going to change it to another forum, but I really have a lot of spammers. I need to find a time to replace phpBB with another forum and install a good spam module.

I'm using a simple vb hack which will prevent links being posted under certain requirement (min post). It has work for me so far, below's the link
