Default Beware for this ip 94.159.161.111

Noticed an unusually large amount of hits coming from this ip on several sites of mine some were as high as 122,222 in a day. Called the hosting company and apparently someone has been trying to get in and crack some kind of files; brute force way in. But my hosting put a stop to it before any damage was done and i have now blocked the ip in my cpanel.

Yes they were. I was checking my aw stats as i do daily, and as previously posted. I noticed an excessive amounts of hits on multiple urls i own from the same ip adress some sites had 122,000 25,000 13,000
It is almost astrnomical why a person would look threw so many pages w/out using any kind of bot. Then got on the phone w my hosting company they werent to specific but the agent said his manager said someone was trying to acess my account and they stopped it. Then they instructed me to block that ip in my cpanel. Which is something I suggest if this happens to anybody to do immediately.
Moral of the story. Check your stats reguarly if you see something out of the ordinary do diligence.

Wow, that is crazy to hear.
Good on your hosting company for preventing it....
What hosting company do you use?

Also, did these hits register on google analytics as well?

I just asked becuase from what you wrote above I assumed you were using HostGator.... I use them as well, and have nothing but good things to say about them as well....

One thing I will mention about them though, is I have found their AV stats program in cpanel to be incorrect quite often.

Try comparing your AW Stats to Google Analytics and see if you find a difference.... I bet you will....

That is my only complaint, otherwise Hostgator is the way to go...

Just an aisde: I have seen that before and believe thats a common issue caused by the different way AW measures hits from spiders to GA. IE: I don't think it's Hostgator specific as I was on a different host back then.

You could try contacting his hosting company and bring it to their attention?

The way I understand this is that this ip address is being used by a private user through the ISP that leases the range. The name in that whois report is the name of someone who works for that ISP.

Pgaming, are you saying that this guy, who seems to be the IP Security manager at the ISP in question, is known to you and is the hacker?

If that's not the case, the OP could report the IP address to the email address listed in that whois report. They probably won't give out the details of the end user without a court order though.
