Default Bing a default search engine in Firefox 4

Bing is now a default search option in Firefox 4. According to Search Engine Journal, Bing started working with Firefox six months ago to become a default search choice.

One other interesting note from this story is Firefox has surpassed IE in Europe as the most used browser.

This is excellent news, I hate IE with a passion.

I use it only to test browser compatibility and even then it seems to manage to crash half the time and freeze my computer.

    Europe is waking up!

I think the thread title/post may be slightly mis-leading for some people.

Just to clear it up... What this means is that Bing is now an option in the drop down menu in the search box in the top right of Firefox (version 4).
You can find me on LinkedIn or Twitter.

If IE is crashing a lot and especially if it is freezing the computer a lot, then something is wrong with the computer or windows.

If the system is running properly it should crash or freeze rarely.

I am glad that Bing may eventually take a bit more marketshare as this will be good for competition in the long term.

That may well be, but the traffic from Bing, in particular bing.co.uk absolutely sucks. I currently rank #1 in bing.co.uk for terms such as ' online casinos ' ' casinos online ' ' casino online ' and the traffic is extremely poor.

Will be interesting to see if this tie in with Firefox has any affect.

Bing is too slow. Tt takes ages for him to start showing new pages, while they can appear in Google search already in several minutes, Google is my top choice.

I'll defend Bing. I've used Bing for 99% of my searches for at least a couple of years without any problems. Yahoo, on the other hand, are becoming lousy.

Bing is okay, but its certainly not in the same league as Google. The results are not as relevant, and it doesn't have as many search features. I love how Google has a clean design, very fast loading, and has links to news, blogs, images, and so many other things in the menu, unlike Bing.

I agree. Remember AV? Hotbot? Lycos? Google was once barely heard of. I'm not saying that'll ever happen again but things change. The internet might not be a baby anymore but it's no more than a toddler. Things will always change.

Bing is default not just in FF, I have seen some banking corporation use bing maps to help with location (by default). And I don't know if I missed something but bing maps seems ugly compared to google maps, no?

lol I tried to search for a bing popularity graph on google and most of the results involve Bing Crosby

Not what I was searching for but maybe I have to put engine or search engine in there.

I find Bing to be a little slow. They need more to be near the league of Google.
