Calm before the storm? Google mobile update

Competition for some of my big money keywords are non mobile.. Quite a lot.. and most of them are large authority sites, Which cannot just make their site responsive.. they need a complete redesign.. Im not sure if they are even worried about it, Logic would tell you that these sites should be optmized but most are not, I think the biggest gain will be for casino affiliates.. nearly most Casino aff pages are non mobile friendly so those that get in early might be able to build a decent player base.

It is definitely a huge opportunity if you are on the first page and will moving up. I just checked a lot of my keywords and there a few sites above me that if things go the way they should I will pick up a few spots also. In looking at this you are right, probably only half of the websites on the first page say they are mobile friendly. You just got me more excited about this for sure!

If the ONLY thing in this update is the mobile friendly thing then I'm excited. been going through my sites checking them on google site checker etc making them as compatible and mobile friendly as possible.

I have been getting my house in order the past week. Wish I would have started sooner, but I was also in the middle of a move and without internet for a bit. But I have my main website now responsive and fully in compliance with the G's mobile tool.. All my 'mobile casino' have been mobile friendly.

A few sites I am keeping the desktop version for.. For at least the time.. They rank well and I don't want to mess with that, as of yet.. Plus my plate is a but full with the updates of other sites as for now. Looking forward to the 21st, refreshing content and perfecting landing pages.. It has been motivating to say the least.

I checked last night, and the results I am getting on my phone are much different from what I am getting on my desktop. A few of my sites that rank on desktop search are gone for mobile.. I think it may have started shuffling

Have you cleared history in both cases (and not signed to G)? Otherwise, it might be that since you check your sites more frequently from desktop - they appear higher...

Oh yeah i use private or incaginato mode.. last night some of my sites where gone for mobile. Today they are back.

I dont expect to see any sudden change. There will be no big switch thrown.
The mobile rankings seem to have been in effect (marking sites as mobile friendly or not) for the last 7-10 days.

I think that google have learned from their mistakes of previous penguin / panda rollouts that making substantial changes to the algo causes bad results - so expect the weightings to be altered very slowly.

I think the "04/21 update" will be not only "mobile friendly" related.
Just thinking... when was released the last Penguin update, i.e.?

I don't think we'll be seeing any new Panda or Penguin for another few months at least.

It appears Google has thrown all its manpower on the implementation of the mobile friendly update.

It will also take several weeks for this update to roll out and I assume there will be a lot of bug fixes/changes/optimizations etc. until they nail it. So, I assume no one will be working at all on Penguin or Panda for at least another few months to come.

Yep and it takes some days at least to see the whole effect... Google needs to crawl and index first.

you should see changes in 1-2 weeks
