Just began taking varenicline tablet (Champix) to stop me smoking. They block nicotine receptors and make you physically sick if you attempt to smoke, 2 month course with some dodgy side effects but well worth it to quit and prolong my life.
No matter what pictures you show a smoker it doesnt help them quit, crazy how badly it affects not only your health but your mindset. Truly is one of the worst addictions, and thats coming from a smoker.
shame you won't be able to see it in a few years when it's covered in nicotine

speeding, drunk driving and smoking commercials often employ these types of tactics to make an impression and shock the person out of the behaviour, but after a while people tend to just block it out and not notice them anymore.
Thanks I've had a few tries at stopping my PB was 4 weeks until I folded when drunkgot a feeling these tablets will work though.
Martyn is doing his bit to make me stop everytime I go for a smoke and come back in to the office he tells me I smell like a burning tramps sock or something along those lines. He's so helpful.

I used to smoke 15-20 Embassy No 1 ( lovely fag) and 40-60 when out on the booze, you could still smoke in pubs then. Tried a couple of times and never got passed a day.
8 years ago thought sod it, went pub on the monday, battered a load of booze and fags down me and said when I go bed when I wake up tomorrow im a non smoker. Used the patches and cracked it, but what I found is that you really really need to want to quit, otherwise temptation is just too strong.
Glad I did it, saved a fortune and felt a lot better than I did, and by the way, how do you all afford it these days anyway? It was £5.20 for a pack of Embo's when I gave up, picked 10 up for my mate the other day and they were over £4 for B&H

I know exactly how hard it is so Well done to anyone who has broke the habbit.
The price of cigs is a joke im paying £8.30 for a packet of 20 Marlboro, it adds up trust me. The closest I came to quitting like I said was 4 weeks. I read a book called "The easy way to stop smoking" seems cliche but it actually worked where the patches and tablets failed and the only reason I failed was because I was offered a ciggarette when drunk then went to buy a packet.

Great message. I never smoked and I never will. It is not good for your health, it is expensive, you have to go outside, ...
I don't see why I should ever start doing it. Only negative points.
Yes all correct. It amazes me how some of the most intelligent people in the world smoke, we all know its dumb but we still do it. Usually people fall in to the trap when they are young and unaware how addictive it can be. Everybody thinks, I wont get addicted its just one every now and then, and before they know if theyre addicted.
It's crazy how many doctors smoke when they know exactly what it's doing to the body.
Plus a few months ago I went out for some drinks with a friend and her colleagues from her lab - every single person there smoked. And you know what they were researching in that lab?... Lung cancer.![]()

love it! great message.
That's exactly what I did, but without the patches. I went cold turkey. My decision was made after smoking 2 packs of 12mg ciggies, too much booze and my head in the toilet. I stopped drinking after that too and now I only drink on special occasions. I think I have only been drunk twice this year.
£4 is cheap for a pack. Here you will pay $20+ which is about £12 I think. I remember when it was $3 a pack. Good old Rudd making money off the people put the tax up overnight from $3 a pack to $10-12. Then overnight again to $20+. And I'm willing to bet that the money isn't going towards healthcare.
