Pretty much my thoughts. It means there is no traffic on the road so I can get to work/home/beach quicker LOL. I'm not a grinch but I just kinda lost interest in the spending money you don't have to impress people you don't like kind of thing. It's nice to see my family for 1-2 days then go back to my own house. Anything longer than that and they drive me up the wall.

My sister had a baby this time last year, and moving forward he is the only one I'll buy/make something for (albeit educational toys or stuff to help his development - I made him a busy board for his birthday last week). I feel like this holiday is more for kids than for adults and until he doesn't believe in Santa anymore I'll play along for him. Otherwise I tell my family no presents because it just ends up sitting there and you waste money buying things for people they don't even like. If I want/need something, I buy it for myself so I'd rather my family save their money for something they need. My mum can't help herself though. Everyone in the office will be getting fatter when they come back to chocolate after the break

In any case I hope everyone spent time with people they love.
    Cheers

    Ok so that's done.

Fighting, throwing stuff, mental breakdowns, threatening to call the cops, then 1 sane person makes everyone take a step back, and you end up with a belly full of food & beer and achieve nirvana.

    Croatian Christmas.

Same here, I'm an uncle of a 1.5 year old.

I don't think you can give educational stuff to kids aged 1, they're still very dumb. You see it in their eyes. My 1 year old Jagdterrier is way smarter than my 1.5 year old human. He can hunt, too.

    Hahaha
You're right, they are still very "dumb" which is why I built him a busy board to help with his motor skills. Photo below.

So basically anything like this that makes small kids use their senses helps improve gross motor skills and problem solving skills, and also help to encourage cognitive growth and social interaction. They have to figure out how the stuff works, opening and closing the locks, pressing and clicking turning the lights on and off, and touching the different textures (there is both felt and velcro on there, as well as the board itself and the touch of the other metals on there).

I actually built this from scratch. Drilled all the holes, screwed everything in, glued some of the stuff on, used a staple gun for others. I even had to make the door myself because I couldn't find a door that small. It turned out way better than I expected, and I now own a drill so for sure I will be making other stuff in the future starting with a small coffee table with the left over wood I have.

    You can call me Macgyver

That's one thing that annoys me over xmas. Everyone bragging about how much they have spent or someone has spent on them and then posting it. Not just normal everyday people, celebs do it as well. They should spend less time doing useless crap like that and more time helping the homeless and lonely.

I do love Christmas. I was part of a small family (4 of us) until I married, my wife has a huge family and we all celebrate together. It helps having a 1 year old too. He doesn't understand Christmas yet but loves wrapping paper and boxes.

Thank you for the suggestion. I got the book 4 hour Work Week" by Timothy Ferriss in christmas present. I just read the book. I think it's a good book to read if you want to increase productivity and get some inspiration. It's a "feelgood" book that perhaps can be slightly repetitive sometimes but otherwise intresting with lots of good quotes from famous people. There are also good suggestions on various books to read and websites to visit. I recommend the book and must say I got more efficient after reading it, thanks a lot!

I like a good entrepreneur or start up book. Loads of them on Amazon. Currently reading the lean start up which gets good reviews.
Thanks for the tip. I got the book the Lean start up in christmas present and just started to read it!
