    Default Cloning a Website

So I was in the process of selling one of my poker sites when the buyer noticed a website that appears to have cloned my one website. My website www.playusaonlinepoker.com is all unique and I built it. There is another website out there now that per whois was launched 3/13/13 and is www.gameusaonlinepoker.com. This is an exact replica of my website - pictures style sheet everything.

There is a gmail email in whois but I will bet noone answers it. How do you handle something like this?
Live Casino USA - the best USA live online casinos. Play USA online slots and other casino games like USA online blackjack. Play See USAlegalcasinos.com to find the best USA online casino. Want to play USA online poker? Find the best poker sites at 4DeucesPoker.com.

I'd send a DMCA as well as a cease letter to the physical address on their whois.

Additionally, I'd STRONGLY consider filing a lawsuit if they were responsible for derailing a sale.

Contact Betonline and give them this btag:

    btag=a_35066b_2c_&affid=1197

( Unless it's yours of course and they are sending you extra players )

Worth contacting the hosting company too and explain what's happened. Often they'll take the offending site down without too much hassle.

With his e-mail address corneshagrfef@gmail.com other sites have been registered.

One of them was TIOOSIE.COM (dead): http://whois.polodomains.com/domain/...oA.._info.html

If you are looking at Google for the name and the street address, you can see a lot of dead domains from him. Is it clear what that means: http://www.google.de/search?client=o...w=1320&bih=726

With his 2nd email adress isuiaev11@yahoo.de he is on a malware list: http://www.malwaredomainlist.com/mdl...ll&quantity=50

I wish you a Happy Easter anyway.

I do not think contacting the Registrar will help much.

I could be mistaken, but I don't recall their guidelines dictating them getting involved in a content dispute, with the exception of acting on actual court orders. (If I am incorrect on this, would appreciate the Internic policy that would force the Registrar's hand on this)

The hosting service provider is a different story however.

Normally it is better to start with the contact on the name servers, but since that is self-hosted, going to the ARIN contact will get it passed on to the actual host but may take longer. (it often depends how big of a block the hosting provider has, and how many times and layers down the block might be broken up and leased/re-leased)

As Leopold discovered for you, it appears the direct host in this case is Joes Data Center so contacting them directly will likely get you in contact quickly with the appropriate person to handle this.

    Good research Leopold.

Sorry, but you do not copy a site by accident, it is a clear and deliberate step.

I am glad to see this has been taken care of.

Couldn't agree more - what utter nonsense! People like this should be held responsible for their actions. The internet is like the wild west and will remain the same until accountability can be enforced. We had a similar problem in the past, the site wasn't cloned but content was stolen. We emailed their host and they removed it. We were relived it was taken down, but nothing happened to the perpetrators, as there is not deterrent, people will just continue doing it. Surely copied content has an effect on rankings hence loss of earnings with google's dupe content policy? And obviously has effected the sale of this site. Are you taking it any further UltimatePokerBonus?

Hey thanks to everyones help on this. This is a great forum and love how willing everyone is always willing to help. I agree, copied by accident - come on?!

Actually I was selling this site and had the potential buyer not found this who knows how long it would have went on. Guess it may be time to use copyscape. As far as further action really I wouldnt know what to do. In our industry I try to fly under the radar so that know it is removed I guess ill just let in go??

So unfortunatley I am not very tech savy but how would they have doen this? Obviously it wasn't by hand because they copied the entire site. I guess you could just view the source code and upload it? Is there anything we can do as websmaters to try to prevent this? Security or something?

Thanks again to everyone who posted and helped out!

We use copyscape to check for plagiarism. They offer two packages, the first is pay as you go, with each search costing 5c. You paste in your content and then it scans and returns matches. You can then compare the text and it gives you a percentage of how much it is copied. See attached screenshot, this gives you an idea of the pro search. They also offer copysentry from $4.95 per month: "Copysentry automatically monitors the web for copies of your pages, emailing you as soon as they appear."

Yeah we just let the copying go too when it happened to us, it's too griefy, the fact it was removed is the main thing.

    http://advego.ru/plagiatus/advego_plagiatus.zip
    Advego Plagiatus
Very very powerful program to check for plagiarism.
Several modes (check, deep check, different shingle sizes e.t.c.)
But it have only one lack - No English language interface.
    But interface not very difficult.
And the more important thing, this program 100% Free.
i use it more than 2 years, and it work very good.
