    Question .co.uk or .net?

If you were going to launch a site to aim at UK with a domain name search volume which has 100,000 search per month.

Would you launch on the .co.uk or the .net if you have both?

    Whats your opinions.

    Target market is the UK

    Thanks

The .co.uk (actually I would register the .uk and use that)....though I believe you'd have as much chance of ranking the .net

I would choose the .co.uk extension instead and use that.

    Definitely .co.uk

If you have both then the .co.uk however I have no problems with .net domains, whichever one you choose will have no impact on its success.

.net as it may then be easier to target content elsewhere outside the UK. In general, I wonder how it will be with offshore partners over time. It's hard to find a bookmaker on the .com domain that works offshore, usually they are other .ag domains etc. I wonder what it will be like with partners in the future, what do you think?

You just love to pipe up for no reason you, Its actually quite hilarious watching. I have not said once that i am not happy with any of the replies i have been given.

Your negativity is boring and unnecessary to say the least. Pester someone else please rather than adding useless comments.

    Thanks for your info everyone.

    .co.uk is the best option
otherwise, you will need to point Google, that .net is targeting the UK market via Search Console.

Option 1: Go with .co.uk if you only target UK
Option 2: Go with .net if you plan to target other countries in the future
Option 3: Begin with .co.uk, and once you want to target more countries do a redirect from .co.uk to .net
Option 4: Start working on both, and after half a year draw a bottom line and continue working on the site which performs the best at this point

Be aware that sometimes G doesnt like redirects too much, so there will be some time till you recover the rankings.

From my opinion ccTLDs have a slightly higher trust within one country, but this doesnt matter if you rank #1, people will also click on your result.

.co.uk if you are targeting uk only and .net if you intend to target other markets.

I added a poll to this post with the choices given. Plus I added an additional choice of "Something Else." We will also feature this poll in this week's GPWA Times newsletter.

I agree with chaumi, so I voted for "something else." At a minimum I would register the .uk domain (assuming it is available) because I wouldn't want to build up a site around domain.co.uk and then have someone else compete with domain.uk.
