    Default Conference anecdotes :)

    Hi all

Many conferences are behind many of us! This business is followed with great times, friendships, but with funny situations as well.
Write a funny situation, embarrassing situation or anecdote that happened to you on the conference

    Just remembered one!

I was with AskGamblers, just finished a meeting with Bet365 on their booth. They always have great coffee there, so I decided to grab one before the next meeting. So I asked a tall guy in white shirt, standing by the coffee machine to make me one, already explaining him that I'll need some extra sugar and that he can add some milk too. He said that he'd gladly make me a coffee, but his meeting is starting that moment. He was an affiliate manager, but I was sure he was a waiter, accepting coffee orders .

I followed an 'affiliate' waiting for a chance to get to speak to him. I waiting until he was alone and called his name. He turned round and we started talking. I mentioned the e-mail that i'd sent him prior to the conference and that he hadn't replied, and he asked my name. So I explain and said 'remember we met in LAC and were working together already' and he looked confused...I asked him his name - turns out he was a binary operator and not even an affiliate, just looked like the affiliate I wanted to speak to.

But he'd turned round and started talking to me when I called another name...so i'll say it's his fault.

Another meeting, so the guys from Intertops came into a meeting room, carrying a banana or two. They put it on the table.
When meeting was finished, we were at formalities as "thanks for coming", "was a great meeting" etc, but I added - "Thanks for the fruit" at the very same moment one of them was picking the bananas up.
They probably felt uncomfortable to take the fruit with themselves now, after I thought it's a little gift for us, although they were just having it with them for a later brunch. And I was uncomfortable with thinking it was for us haha. They left us the bananas in the end, but next time, on the other conference and meeting, I brought them one.

I bet Hodgey has a good one he can share...

I don't think anything weird like that has happened to me inside the conference hall. I will have to think about it.

Wow... if the roles were reversed, this would be considered stalking hahaha.

Hahah my stories ARE legendary, but the majority of them either I cannot repeat or didn't happen at the actual conference but at the parties.
I'm a freak magnet. We can leave it at that.

It's not like i followed him to his hotel room lol i just walked after him for a minute until he'd finished speaking to other people. Could be worse, I could have interupted him when he's talking to other people (not naming names! *cough* binary *cough*).

Surprised Renee hasn't mentioned the time I saved her and Celia from a tram in Amsterdam. I fell over and broke my phone in the process.

I'm only joking with you, and wanted to point out the double standards in our society

Let's be honest. It's only considered creepy/stalking when the other person doesn't find you attractive.

    BAHAHAHAH

That was easily one of the best moments of my life. I will never forget how you "saved" us from the tram (that was 1km down the street and we couldn't even see it).

My husband and I were waiting at a restaurant for Lloyd and Shelley From brightshare and we were being stalked about a RTG manager who we clearly didn't want to work with.Seriously the guy would pop up everywhere and be in our face.

I once ordered a Whopper Menu at McDonald's Cannon Street a few minutes after leaving the conference at Old Billingsgate.

Will never forget the facial expression of the lady. The store there no longer exists. Wonder why.

Maybe too many fellows tried to order Whoppers...

Stephen's version: He saved us from being hit by a tram.

What actually happened: The tram was about 1km down the road coming towards us at about 1km/hour and Stephen started running across for no reason, tripped on the curb of the tram track, commando rolled across it and stood up to find us all pissing ourselves laughing at him. He broke his brand new phone screen.

Hmmmm sounds like a hero to me.....embarrassed maybe but a very heroic action....

...and to think he did all this for those that may work for a different software provider....

Sheesh you could have at least taken up a collection for a screen repair....

I got this sorta tarnished penny I could send toward the cause....

Hmmm actually Renee, I think I'll send ya two pennies, you keep one for telling the story....lol
