Hello everyone,
What do you think about the future of Google, now that we have 4 paid results above the organic, there is no visibility of the organic ones at all. Do you think that this is the end of SEO and respectively Google?
Hello everyone,

I think it will be the end of many sites and those that can retain return visitors will be the winners, the worst part about the 4 results is on mobile.. scrolling half a page before i actually get to what I need.. I do think after a while people will become ad blind or perhaps the advertisers will see less conversions due to people clicking back and actually finding what they need.. though for product sales it could well be a business killer

Agree with wonderpunter about people becoming ad blind. Personally I never look at the paid ads in Google, I scroll straight to the first organic result

I agree with you and WonderPunter too. But we must consider which people are we targeting. We spend whole day in front of computer, and we know what advertising on google means, but there is a ton of searchers which do not even recognise, that first four places are paid, even there is a sign. It can be a big problem in the future, if they can add 4th, they can add even more. But still there are long-tail searches, which make more than 50% of google searches. I am also surprised from which keywords will people get to my websitesAnd I hardly doubt, that someone will advertise these in the near future.

Me too. But not just Google, banner ads in general. I have my own built-in adblock I guess :P
I have long thought that as advertising becomes more dominant on the Internet (and the world in general) people are becoming numb to it. And as people get numb the advertisers work even harder to get their message across. Eventually this will backfire.
Google is a great example. At first, it was a search engine. Then it was a search engine with a bit of advertising. Now there are ads above and below the ever-shrinking list of organic search results. What's next, only paid ads on the first page of results??? Google is getting greedy.

From my experiences, it seems that having plenty of good content is far more important than having thousands of links.
A lot of people just skip past the paid ads. I do this myself.
Google is struggling with a lot of spam in my opinion and they know it. Penguin was a disaster imo. And panda hits good sites still. But they are still developing algorithms to weed out the bs sites.
Target a market that doesnt allow paid adsProblem solved
There are still gambling ads in various countries. And in other countries you can have paid ads if you are a licensed online casino. There are also ways to get paid ads even without a license, through google store.
Your site still needs to be relevant in those PPC verticals - its not just about money. Your page needs to be relevant, the landing environment needs to match the searchers intent. So to an extent SEO still exists within PPC as well as organic - paid results are still search engine results.
The days of getting to the top without either budget or hard work are probably dead, but SEO is still a practice of search enagine marketing

Some people will say that SEO is already dead, others swear that the rankings can still be manipulated to a certain extent. At the moment it feels as though it comes down to your own experience but the thing to think about is, what will it be like in a year, five years, 10 years time. At some point the tactics we use now just won't work.
Yes, Google is dead, SEO is dead, affiliate marketing is dead...
SEO worked and will work. I think G now changed approach and since they own also major browser (Chrome), they are even more proactive on landing pages = our pages. They set new standards for ads and those standards are more and more restrictive. I am not talking about their rules for ads, when adsense is being used. They now set the rules even for pages, where is no adsense. I am talkingabout social engeneering bans. I think they will go this way and they will try to monopolize their ad market even more. They will for sure set more and more restrictive rules how ads should look like and therefore ads will convert less and less. Not good news for us. But it will be interesting.

Seeing the improvements in traffic makes a huge difference.
When a keyword is on page 1, you will still get traffic over paid adverts.
we rank for a keyword that has 4 adverts above, and still get huge amounts of the traffic.

Internet marketing is not only about google. Granted its a large part, but there are tonnes of other ways to get traffic.
SEO is NOT dead!!!!
Hacking your way to number 1 in google, ranking without a good website, spamming your way to the top, faking the system - IS as you suggest dead. However as long as search engines have a 'mechanical/algorithmic' way of calculating your ranking potential, there are always analysts who find the easiest way to tick those boxes. Advanced SEO is no longer accessible on a small a budget, I think that's the difference.
So you either have to invest in an expert or work hard to learn what makes your rank improve through trial and error.

Has anybody noticed that every year we claim the death of SEO?) However, it is still alive, isn`t it? I think it wont die, but it will become great challenge that requires always being in trend, to master new approaches, techniques. We see that things that worked well years ago now still working too but they have become a tiny part of constantly enlarging seo system.. Thus, lets be more positive, guys. As well as more professional and curious. Love you=)
I'm not dumb. I just have a command of thoroughly useless information.

PPC it's always about money.
So, I'm (and with me all other webmasters/developers who cry blood tears night and day on their sites) a public idiot.
Just check some (let's say 80% in our industry?) PPC results: 3.5 minutes-work landing pages with a nice looking header and colorourful button at center with a stupid anchor like "Click here to see the offers". Then, redirect... Something that an average webmaster/developer can do in 3.5 max 5 minutes. With a little but substantial difference: high PPC cost.
If this is a sort of SEO, I will be a guru (I'm totally noob about it) tomorrow morning. Just let me spend all April's incomes![]()
Usually (jumping from forum to forum) who claims that SEO is dead is another SEO that 10 minutes later claims that he has a "definitive poison" against all the Google's beasts (Penguins, Pandas, nuns...). Every algorithm change, same story... in secula seculorum.
