Default Copied Content - What to do?

SO a while back i decided to buy articles from a person over at digital point.

He had several articles for sale. I bought all of them from him. He said they all passed copy scape, and all were originals.

I tested one was ok, and i looked at his reputation points. he was a solid member with thousands of posts, had many sales to many people who gave him all perfect scores. Not one bad thing said about him.

So naturally i trusted him and bought them.

AS it turns out he has 80 more for sale, and i want to buy them. But before i ship the finds to him i thought maybe i need to seriously look into this further.

So i did online searches.. and here's what i found.

Every bloody title is already used by several sites. In fact some are members here i am sure.

The content is all copied - paraphrased slightly and found on various sites.

Many are also on Ezines. but most are on different sites written by different people...

It seems the site owners are claiming the articles to be theirs and all of them have slightly different ordering and words..

But it is clear they are serious infringements.

Now here is my question. If this guy who sold them to me claims they are originals, and yet sold them to various people and so forth.

What can i do? I already disputed pay pal for my money back.

I have well over 10 sites i can list here that use them. I can list his name and go on to report this......

I would rather like some advice from some experts on this.. on what i should do in a formal constructive manner.

    Steve

    Good point mate. Thanks...

It does seem no one serious cares.....

GPWA seals continue to advertise copyright material (stolen intellectual property) with no consequence.

Use giggle for content! Best sticking with someone who has a good reputation.

I agree let it slide and learn from it. DP is indeed like a box of chocolates you never know what your going to get.

But Steve if you insist on going after him throw me a PM. Maybe we can get his sites delisted for dup content? (okay I cannot spell today)

Yes for sure. From now on i will always use Giggles.... We already have some things on the go... LOL... very true!!

Well you live and learn right?

But the other thing that is messed up is GPWA seal owners here have copy right material on their sites.....

Yet even though one of the conditions for having the seal is to have NO copyright material on the site..

    However it is not policed...

SO if i put copyright material on my site which i would never do, there would be no consequence....

GPWA seal owners as of now can widely use copyright material and no one cares. or does anything about it.

But your right we should just let this slide as well...

I had always felt it to be honorable to have the GPWA seal.

Now its unclear.. as they say in chess terminology...

    "Its a dubious position"

Why have a condition that is not followed or maintained.

CityGuard (Steven) who handles copyright issues has been out sick this week.

PM me the details on which GPWA seal site is violating copyright.

GPWA puts a lot of resources into screening private members for copyright issues and then again when they receive a seal. It is impossible to monitor every member for copyright issues after their initial screening, so it is important to let us know when you come across it so it can be addressed.

    Thanks,
    Anthony

Alright mate. Just so angry that I got burned by a scammer on digital point going by the name Killianbr. Yet digital point staff dont give a damn and seem to support the sale of copyright material. I reported him yet nothing.

And he is scamming us members in our industry. Then i log on here and see sites with the same articles i bought from fellow members and I also find the source, the real source writer.

So it all comes down to members here may have been scammed by this same guy killianbr (alexandre ademar) from digital point.

I did my part in exposing him so i feel good about that anyway. I would never buy articles from there again. a good lesson learned..

Just along the way it was disturbing to find out that possible members here are stealing content as well without referencing the source..

    Hi Steve,

You can send the information to me as well regarding GPWA Sealed sites having duplicated content. The Seals are only available to Private Members so the Member's site is reviewed during the Private Membership process (for copyright issues as well as other areas) and it is reviewed by GPWA Members when it is Polling. After that, it is reviewed again before a GPWA Seal is awarded.

This makes me think the material (copied content) is either being placed on the site after all this reviewing has been done or the material may be legitimate marketing information or public domain info which you will find on many, many sites.

I'll look into it for you if you want to send me the info.

    Thanks

    Hi Nancy,

I wanted to at least let you know I thank you for posting this and letting me know you could look into it. I do appreciate this allot.

I thought about it for some time and have just decided to let it go. I had spent way to much time on it.

Also rather than detract from many more important issues here at GPWA which webmasters are facing my issue seems rather small compared to some of the big ones... so in effect I feel all efforts should concentrate on the bigger picture..

I have ref the members and sites in the posts on GPWA here and various other forums.. did all i could... and reported these frauds!!

At the end of the day i can sleep with peace knowing I have done a good service for my fellow webmaster community.

Understanding resources are sparse I wanted to apologies for referring that GPWA does nothing about this. In fact i do know GPWA does a huge amount of checking but they simply can't be responsible for every member site and check them all..

Just as they cannot be responsible for these unethical members who continue to enjoy the seal as they advertise copyright materials on their sites..

I will let karma take over on this one!!

Who can you trust nowadays. I whole heartily agree a member who violates the GPWA seal requirements does not deserve it.
