Question Do AIG's actions upset You?

    I'm ticked over it.

What AIG did is the equivalent of looting. It's not like if these folks were unemployed tomorrow they aren't already set for life. If this were a grocery store and somebody was stealing milk, the National Guard would be sent in.

I'm beyond upset over it, but I predicted this when the deceptive Paulsen and that crook Bush wanted to just give over the money via a 3 page document.

I'm more upset over the idiots in Congress that was niave enough to trust them and even more for not asking for time to have the bill properly read. What a bunch of clowns!

I'm just glad that I won't be around to see the disaster they created down the road when it will be obvious what a mistake it is to just give money that you don't have away to a bunch of greedy and immoral folks.

If President Obama does not address and fix this to the best of his ability then I will be just as mad at him and Guitner needs to GO as well as that Berneike (sp) because they are either crooked or idiots as well.

JMO and thanks for letting me vent.

This would sure cause some misunderstanding. Maybe they should make some public explanation about this.

the whole AIG bailout infuriates me news reporting last night that the government has only one way to stop them from handing out 130+ million in bonuses with that money that we will all be paying back here in the states one way or another. they can only put a "tax" on the bonus money to penalize AIG. they can legally do this because our gov't now holds a majority interest in the company. the tax they are speaking of is a 100% tax on the bonus to those that receive the bonus, lol. i love it!!! they feel it will stop AIG from spending in that capacity. i wouldn't want a bonus i had 100% tax on it, i would say "keep it".

i can't wrap my head around the nerve of AIG asking for a 3rd bailout installment. they can go **** themselves. i don't care if they collapse at this point. 1 in 50 children in the US is homeless right now. and our gov't has billions to give to a company that wants to hand out money like popcorn to those that already have it? sickening, absolutely disgusting. it's embarrasing to be an American these days

Personally, I don't think a 100% tax on the bonuses would be sufficient. I think a 200% tax would be quite appropriate.

only in America folks only in America

    Ok just joking calm down

Its the governments worldwide that do these stupid bailouts that are to blame, so far in the UK they have used up something like £44000 per person in bailouts.

Damn, give that to the people to spend, cannot think of a better way to stimulate the economy

The Senate Banking Committee chairman, Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., he
put into the AIG bailout bill an exemption to protect the bonuses.

This being changed by the new administration is possible, but not
probable! I suppose we'll see in time!

I agree 200% with Michael Corfman!!

And NO ONE wants to exposure the person(s) that took out Dodd's clause. Whom ever is responsible needs to be jailed like Bernie Merdoff was!

Being that we (tax payers) own 80% of AIG I would think that we could do like most companies and deny bonuses when the company takes a loss. It's not rocket science as much as it its greed.

How can folks that runied a company be paid a bonus and then allowed to take it and leave the company? I've lost faith in our government because the same folks on tv outraged are the ones that gave our money away!

This should definately put the nail in the coffin for any more bailouts, but who knows.

Couldn't we sue AGI for false advertising?

If I recall it wasn't too long ago they were running those deceptive commercials.

The little boy would stand in the door way of his parents bedroom and say he's worried about "this familes financial future" and the father would reply "we're with AGI son".

Were they losing billions at the time?

some of our top economists suggested this very idea to stimulate consumer spending and personal/home/credit card repayment. but that doesn't line the pockets of corporate america fast enough so our government couldn't conceive of it. we the people, are not their concern.

I just confirmed my answer on whether congress read the bill or not. Cantor was on tv and admitted that no one read the bill or they would have known about the bonuses upfront.

That is why Paulsen wanted it passed in 3 days! He wanted to make sure NO one knew what was going on until it was to late. I am on record of saying this was the plan!

I tried to watch the hearings with that Libby guy yesterday, but could not stomach seeing him and hearing him offer to ask the crooks to give 1/2 of it back.

Does the AIG story upset me?

This is not AIG, this is the entire Wall Street profession. These greedy (it is a proved fact, is it not?) professionals have grown fat on our back for many years and we never noticed because we had a bull market. Now that it is bear, there is a corpse in every closet.

How did all that happen, this is what is beyond my comprehension?

Libby came out of retirement 6 months ago and is taking $1 salary.
I think this all occured way before he took the helm.

They say it was this guy, Joseph Cassano

That excuse won't fly with me nor will it work for Obama trying to blame stuff on Bush. I just want to see it fixed.

You should know what you are getting into and be able to stand the heat or get out of the kitchen.

No one in thier right mind could agree to this or accept it.

It happened because our Federal Reserve and others are either crooks/incompetent or both.
