    Question Do you plan to spend more or less time on affiliate marketing in 2021?

    It's a new year. Traditionally the time to reflect on accomplishments for the past year and set goals for the new year.

    In looking at your involvement in the affiliate industry, how do your plans for the coming year differ from your plans for the past year. Do your plans for the new year mean you will devote more or less time overall to the business this year than you did last year? And do you plan to spend your time differently than last year?

    We ran a similar poll four of the last five years:

    Do you plan to spend more or less time on affiliate marketing in 2020?
    Do you plan to spend more or less time on affiliate marketing in 2018?
    Do you plan to spend more or less time on affiliate marketing in 2017?
    Do you plan to spend more or less time on affiliate marketing in 2016?

    In last year's poll 63% of those responding said they expected to spend a lot more time than they did the year before. I'm curious how that will compare with the results of this year's poll.

    About us, for now I plan to spend about the same amount of time as I did in 2020.

    But still, we couldn't expect such impact of pandemic on our industry. Will see how 2021 will go.

    Akward question - I can't possibly spend more time than I am right now, so I chose "same amount of time". Ask my wife this question you might get a different answer

    I spend probably more time on gpwa than with my affiliate business. I plan to restrict it even more. I am afraid because of compliance my plan will be just a plan.

    Currently I received just about 5k EUR to Sberbank and they want hours of work of paperwork from me. Unbearable. Almost all the work now is about compliance. The affiliate business itself is dying on autopilot.

    I want to spend about the same amount of time as I did in 2020. There's still a lot to be learned along with some new planned work that needs to be done and I intend to make it happen this year for sure.

    After 10 years in the business, my plan now is to get most work done in the morning and have the afternoon free.

    The problem with our self-employment in this business is that there is always something to be done. And I still enjoy sitting in front of the computer.
    So until now, this year I had only 1-3 afternoons per week partially or completely off. Plus I often work in the evening and I always also work on weekends - so I still have a lot of room to decrease my working hours

    I dont think anyone can take their foot off the pedal in this industry. As soon as you do you fall way behind.

    So I plan to work more.

    I agree, this is what happened to me last year. I took my foot of the pedal as I was busy with my full time job, and ended up falling way behind with my site. Had a bit more free time the past few weeks so I have managed to get a few things done, it really is never ending in this industry.

    True that Alex. With a kid on the way, I might not be able to work more this year, but I'll be happy if I work the same as last year and manage everything nicely.

    I will just delegate more daily tasks to my employees and focus on the most important tasks to be as effective as possible.

    I recognize myself so much in this. You work much more than you have imagined and the free hours are not so many, not even on the weekends always. But as long as you like what you do, it is no problem for me to sit at the computer a lot and work - except that I start to get very pale, especially since it is also winter.

    My partner, she's a bank manager, and I've watched as her world has been turned upside down with micromanaged compliance. It's got so ridiculous for her now, that it's not unusual for her to spend 2 days week on this crap. Does all this compliance actually help anyone? Meh, seems not!

    It is absurd, sometimes payments of 6 figures go through, then 3 figures have to be explained.

    From the really broad sense the reason is to make things totally absurd, so it will all explode and something new will come. Until then we all just suffer.

    Was at my bank yesterday, the account is held at this branch. Anyway, needed to withdrawal $9K cash. What a drama... Only one (1) teller serving, while the queue is practically out the door.

    1. Told teller what I wanted;
    2. Swipe card and entered pin;
    3. Asked again, what is it you want? (rolled eyes);
    4. Then asked for more ID (driver's license);
    5. At this point I ask, why all the drama? I don't get hassled like this at branch X... Told, well go to branch X then!
    6. Then told; mind you after 5 mins on being stuffed about, that normally I'd have to order the $9K a day before.
    7. Finally get my cash, though, all in $50 notes. Sorry we can't give you $100 notes, we need them.

    Would have given Ms smarty-mouth britches a word or two about customer service, but to do so, ran the risk of being called aggressive/rude, and subsequently asked to leave the bank. So I just bit my bottom lip.

    Edit:
    You hear all the conspiracy theories about Covid, and you laugh, thinking, nut jobs.
    But, lately, IDK... be a grand way to force everyone not to colour outside the lines, hey

    Vaccines are finally available, But now we have new deadlier strains. Seems a bit too coincidental.

    I think that I will need to spend even more time on my researches. I'm also considering to expand somehow.
