Do You Think Google Uses This Forum

As most people are probably aware of with Googles' spam team they have an algorthem that picks up spam and a manual team that goes and finds it and helps program better algorithms. Do you think Google looks on forums like this to see what people are up to?

I would hope so if I was Google really as they are stupid if they are not. Same with I have seen people on here tell people that they except paid links. That is a good way for Google to know that you are the one buying paid links for your own site if you admit it on a forum.

Kind of answered my own question really, sorry guys. Would be cool what other people think.

Maybe Google do not give a ****, after all, they are worth billions and when searching on Google I very rarely come past a very spammy site.

You really honestly think that since google has to track and index millions of websites that they are gonna hire a person to read and absorb a few hundred thousands posts at a single forum to find and expose a small handful of link sellers?

Do they have people that join and read he top forums to keep a handle on what smart webmasters are doing? Yes, I think they are....

Have they targeted the GPWA specifically looking for link sellers? No I do not think that is a logical step.

Yes, I do. I billion dollar industry can afford to hired people to read forums for the latest black hat techniques and which sites are selling links. It is the easyest methond really to defanitly tell if a webmaster is buying links.

I do not think they will read every post and check everyday, but a search in this forum for "paid links" would bring posts up I reckon.

I agree with your thinking Craig, Google would no doubt look at some forums in order to keep up to date with the latest shady link building tactics, however I would probably side with Rick more on whether they do it on a large scale inidividual basis.

The web is a HUGE place, going into places such as this would not even touch the sides and would not be an economical way to combat web spam. I would say they use some of the bigger forums such as Digital Point, Webmaster World etc. to find examples of links, then go to the drawing board in order to improve their algorithms and find ways to discover these automatically.

The same way anyone doing a survey would find a targetted sample and use that to improve their product for the mass market.

Then again, Google no doubt has people keeping manual tabs on the casino results due to the spam it attracts - I would be suprised if they haven't at least visited this place to have a look around.

Yeah, I would put money on it the big SEO forums have Google employees snooping around to find the new black hat techniques that are being used.

The reason I said this forum as it is where the affiliates hand out and gambling brings a big portion of black hat sites. Then again, you would not be stupid enough to post your black hat techniques on a forum.

I guess if you have nothing to hide then Google can come and read your posts all day if they wanted to.

Maybe... they would snoop around to look for black hat techniques smoking around the forums. Since most of the SEOs try to lurked around forums to forums. Although I bet that they tried to learn their own holes by figuring out how to break their algo.

I once read something about google hiring teams of people in india to go around looking for spam sites. Although I think there aim was more to remove cr@ppy sites from the index rather than look for link sellers.

And don't forget that you can't take what is said on a forum at face value - it could be anyone posting.

eg: Hi, I work for google and we are selling links. Anyone want to buy some links on the google homepage?

With all your words, I am beginning to think that Google is becoming a human driven search engine, and that in the near future a chance for a site to naturally rank from the piles through its link popularity decreased. Well, I can't blame google if they'll dive into this since all of those spammers really are trying to put their strongest arms to break in.
