It worked in 2005 but sometimes top website links too each other if they want to rank for different keywords for example, so we should look at the situation and can`t say for all cases

It has definitely worked in the past. I have had personal experience with it and yes it worked. However, it's been very much harder the pas couple of years but it can definitely work - depends on the website you are linking and all.

Linking naturally to other good pages is perfectly fine and a healthy way to operate, even if they are your own pages on other domains, it would be odd to think otherwise honestly.

I think in the older days many people were linking to each other homepages on a daily basis and that used to be pretty normal until Penguin switched them off. Now, if you link to your "friend's" internal page and he links back to one of yours -- it isn't a problem, as long as it makes sense. Of course, you must keep in mind who you're linking to and another way around, otherwise the penguin may smash your face!

Check your local media outsets, they are all linking to each other and no problem.

Cross linking doesn't work. So don't create cross linking ring. Creating multiple websites and cross linking that website to each other is a bad SEO practice.

My personal experience from over 15 years in highly competitive SEO niches is that cross linking in various ways still work. There are companies with several money sites out there within the igaming sector that link in between the sites and it still works. In my view it is high risk but it certainly still works for some.

It is a complete myth that Google cares that you own the site you are linking to, do it in a natural way like you would linking to any other normal high quality site/content and don't give it a second thought. The only "risk" is if you do it in a risky way - excessive, over optimized anchors, etc.

I saw a quick video of Olivier Andrieu, a french white hat SEO, that point something about cross linking :

He said that it works, and he takes from example his own websites that are cross linked to each other. But he said it was relevant, because all of his sites was complementary, and the links between the sites gives more informations of the page actually visited.

The cross linking between two similar website that are not complementary, in the homepage, with other similar links to other similar websites will be more likely penalized.

Key point here - the reality is that most problems happen when people try to hard, and then it becomes unnatural. If the link is added value for the user reading it, I really doubt it could ever cause a problem. Make it about "doing SEO" and that is where the problems start to creep in. I think that's the point of a number of previous posts.

If I own 2 great/aged/valuable/worthwhile sites - CryptoCasinos.com and OnlineCasinos.com...and I link from the Crypto page on onlinecasinos.com (in a sensible way) to CryptoCasinos.com, then irrelevant of whether I own both you would logically expect the link to have (SEO) value. No logical reason why it wouldn't. And at worst it would just get ignored anyway.

Perhaps it might be wise if they are on different IPs, but even that is debatable (and I have some evidence that appears to prove it)

You can check out all the websites owned by Google itself, and see if they link to each other or no, no, no as they'll get a manual penalty for doing so
