Well Dan inferred she didn't motivate her base, but that is not true as all indications are she won the popular vote which means she received more actual votes but not enough electoral college votes to win the presidency, that is what I meant.

It makes me sad to see how far the world has come only to see it drop back to that.

The world never went anywhere and your sad post just proved that. It was just a naive leftist illusion of the surface of society that people got better. But underneath, people are still the same and they can not work with- or even admit the existence the dark sides of their own souls. So they are like a pendulum between political correctness, artificial tolerance and hipster individualism; and racsim, open hate and collective guilt. Or they are like a pendulum between what they wish to be and what they really are.

Now we all are going to the era of collective darkness, because we were not able to work with dark side on individual basis. More and more people were simply fed up with the propaganda that we live in the nice world, while the world is still the same world full of atrocities, unjustice and so on. So people do not want leaders with fake smiles telling them to go on with that and smile too. People want to express anger and destruction and they want the leaders that do that as well and thus allow them to act disgracefully.

Trump cannot make radical changes without congress (most of who denounced him on the lead up to him becoming president elect).

There will be no wall, no change to foreign policy, no radical change to taxes, most things he promised won't come to fruition. The founding fathers put in protections against lunatics thankfully.

Did you know that there is about 1/3 of the wall already built?

Republicans control both the Senate and House of Representatives and the old speaker of the House (John Boehner) quit last year. Paul Ryan the guy who took his place is a real budget hawk. A numbers junkie. I won't be surprised if there is tax reform and cuts to social benefits. (entitlement reform).

The supreme court is also lost as one of justices suddenly died (last Feb) with 1 more age 83 and another with health problems. Trump will have at least 1 supreme court appointee with the possibility of 3. Those jobs are for life.

Not to mention all the regulations and executive orders Obama created. Executive orders Trump can reverse on day 1.

For the most part, (if you consider Trump a Republican, he's been a Democrat most of his life) Republicans control all three branches of the US Government, The Executive, (ie.. President), Legislative (ie.. Senate and House of Representatives) and Judicial (ie.. Supreme Court).

This was a pretty historic election for the US.

Yeah, I read Trump has actually funded the Clinton foundation in the past. The republicans didn't want Trump but now they're celebrating him, they haven't won, he isn't their guy.

He hasn't fallen in line so far but the question is, will he now? A president is almost powerless without the backing of the Senate.

The next few months will be very interesting.

Agreed. Because of advanced technology and the fact that most people enjoy very comfortable lives, there's an illusion we're better than we were during more savage times.

People in the 19th century believed there's nothing new to be invented, and that all the great inventions already happened.

Nothing changed. If anything, people are now more complacent than ever. And dumber than ever.
