Default Doyles Room leaves Cake Network

Doyles Room left the Microgaming Network in 2009 and joined the Cake Network. Less than two years later, the poker room sponsored by Doyle Brunson is on the move again.

Doyles Room announced Friday it was moving from the Cake Network to the Yatahay Poker Network. Casino City has a press release about the move:

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- In a move to offer its players a customized poker experience and deliver everything they want in a poker room, Doyles Room is moving to the Yatahay Poker Network effective today.

New and existing players can start enjoying the new software immediately, (built exclusively for DoylesRoom), by launching the game client and downloading the update when prompted.

Current player accounts will be automatically migrated to the new platform. This will allow players to continue enjoying the thrill of playing cards with DoylesRoom.com's community of players, including Doyle Brunson himself, and his Brunson 10 pros.

The move to the Yatahay Poker Network marks the start of a new direction for DoylesRoom, one that will give the online poker site further control of its Destiny. With the move to the new platform comes an array of new benefits that the DoylesRoom.com community has been asking for. Players will experience industry-leading customer support, with telephone and chat support returning to the online poker site's suite of help options.

"With our new software, we're able to do our own thing in terms of promotions, software features and customer service." said Doyle Brunson. "For our players, that means a tailored poker experience with more rewarding promotions and incentives. I'm personally excited about what's ahead."

If they say the new software is for the better and will bring poker players a more exciting gaming experience then, its just good that they have moved. Players just need to familiarized themselves with the new upgrade.

The problem is that the software is NOT better and players do NOT like it more.

It's a step back in time. Software is crap, bonus reduced, reduced gtd tournaments, liquidity suffers, players not happy at all...

    FAIL!

LOL @ (built exclusively for DoylesRoom)

So they got a skin on the Yatahay network built exclusively for Doyles Room, lol ok. I was sure all poker sites have a software built exclusively for them AKA a skin on the network.

Player volume and levels played in the toilet. I looked for some action in the Omaha Cash games and found one sole player. BTW, his screename was OMGDoyleSux. What an epic fail this move was. Add to this they shut down doylescasino and no one was told. Really makes one ponder the direction to take promoting the brand. Ever since the old Chipleader AM's came over the brand has went downhill. This I feel will be the nail in the coffin for what once was a helluva poker brand to promote.

Sometimes we make wrong decisions. But who knows the reason behind why they fall back to something crap. Might be Doyles is on budget? If they aim for an improved user experience, then I think the most appropriate 'first move' is to distribute surveys to patrons to learn which part of the service needs reinvention.

It has disappeared of my PC, and for some strange reason it won't even download on my end. I have not heard anything about the casino folding, but is that the case now?

The casino is gone as far as doylescasino redirects doylesroom and if you attempt to open the download RTG client it will not connect to the server.

Odd you can't d/l the poker room though. But no worries, it is crap anyway.

Good to see you back BTW.

Thanks Chip. I still pop in time to time, just not nearly as often. Been so busy with school studies (trying to earn a bachelors degree at my age is no easy feat. lol). Sucks about Doyles though....I have a few hundred bucks in that room that's just been sitting there for quite some time.

It does seem strange to leave the Cake network which is currently avg 700 real money players a day to the Yatahay network which has less than 200 rmp.

If Doyle is banking on Yatahay growing 1000% in 2011 then maybe it was the right move. But the odds are against them. I can see the whole operation closing before the year is out.

A side note: Seems Cake network is taking another hit in liquidity and is now below 700 rmp according to http://www.pokerscout.com

Looks like a lose lose situation on the network switch.

This move clearly isn't above moving to a new network that they think will be better. This was very likely their only choice, as it is very likely they were busted, and in debt. BetCris bailed them out plain and simple, much the same as they have bailed out many failed sportsbooks over the years in order to rescue player funds and not leave a black eye on the industry. People bitch and moan about the Cris/Bookmaker 10 player rule, but fail to realize the failed operations that they have bailed out over the years.

Any affiliate with anything at stake with Doyles should be ecstatic at this move. It's likely the only way players and affiliates were ever going to get paid, and were ever going to make a quarter moving forward. It's not just coincidence that Doyles hadn't sent any payments out for awhile prior to this bailout.

You may be right on the bail out, affiliates hopefully will get paid for past earnings. But what does the future hold for the brand?

I can't see poker affiliates earning big commissions on such a small network. Why bother pushing this brand?

Also if Doyles did go broke, how did this happen? I guess they had a crack and making some $$$ but in the current competitive environment they couldnt turn a profit.

I think anyone would be foolish to continue to push this brand. They have screwed affiliates in the past, and they have shown little to no business sense, and as you stated the new network doesn't inspire confidence. I'm saying the bail out is a good thing because BetCris was likely the only company that was going to bail them out, and kudos to Cris. If Cris doesn't bail them out, then affiliates and players may never get paid. Receiving prior payments and any future earnings at all is greater than zero, which was the other likely scenario.

Doyle's failed because their business model is a terrible one. Any skin on a network offering rakeback is doomed for failure in today's gaming climate. You have fees you have to pay the network, you have affiliate commissions, you have rakeback you have to pay out, you have advertising expenses, you have employment expenses, and you have rapidly increasing processing costs for deposits and cashouts. What is left after that? Nothing, or worse even probably negative. Skins on rakeback networks make little sense for poker only brands, or where poker is the main source of income. The only way skins on rakeback networks make any sense at all is for sportsbooks or casinos who use them as a retention tool for their existing customers, or sportsbooks who use poker to attract new deposits in hopes that a good portion of new deposits will be lost in the casino or sportsbook.

I wonder many more RB focused skins on networks like cake, merge, yatahay, everleaf will call it quits in 2011.
