    Default Happy Birthday to SPAM

Introduced on July 5, 1937, the name "Spam" was chosen when the product, whose original name was far less memorable (Hormel Spiced Ham), began to lose market share. The name was chosen from multiple entries in a naming contest. A Hormel official once stated that the original meaning of the name "Spam" was "Shoulder of Pork and Ham.

    Yummy!!!
    "CasinoJack"

Interesting indeed. I always thought the name meant:

    Specimen Pretending As Meat.

I do admin to eating many cans of it in my younger days as it was a tasty alternative to hot dogs. I was in the Navy and had a beach bungalow so I could live off the ship when in port. Had many a meal of Spam.

I don't think I have touched it in nearly 30 years now.

LOL Can you even taste the spam then?

I remember eating it as a kid, and we have plenty of cans around the office (specifically 4 cans behind my desk - 3 regular and 1 smoke flavoured)..

    It's a running joke..

I'd never eat it now though.. I just remember it having jelly inside the can. Yuk.
