Wink The Future of Online Gambling is on the mobile..

Hi guys, I have read articles where gambling companies have made great numbers thanks to mobile. Do you think too that most of players will play through mobile or still on computer device there will be most of them?

    I was just about to start a thread asking a related question;

"Does anyone think this mobile-this and mobile that crap is all hype and nothing else?"

I understand mobile betting is huge for betting companies, however for us affiliates, i find setting my website out to be responsive means i'm railroading people into certain content only, and that they can't see the full design of the site.

I mean, with the size of screens now, once people go to your site all they have to do is double tap their screen and the browser resizes the screen to take the whole page in (and thats where the mobile browser doesnt do it automatically as some do), and from there they can easily scroll here and there, zooming in and zooming out with two taps on what they want.

I personally have turned off responsive on my wordpress sites, as I feel the sites look great and when they load up fully people can see where they want to go and make their own decisions, rather than getting optimised ( and thus reduced) content access unless they go through the menu (which many people can easily miss).

Does anyone else feel like this?

I tend to agree with some of that Joe.

Why anyone really thinks playing slots on a 3 inch screen is gonna provide hours and hours of fun is beyond me.

I have not optimized my sites for mobile and it is something I plan on doing in the future (as soon as I can add a few hours to each day) but I do not think I will plan on direct mobile traffic to a different site. Like you said I also feel it is just more effective to make the pages easier to read on smaller mobile devices.

If you guys are using Wordpress, have a look at the "Any Mobile Theme Switcher" plugin Version 1.3. You can have 2 themes, your existing one and a dedicated mobile one, and the plugin will detect if the visitor is using a mobile browser and automatically display the mobile theme for them.

From our point of view we feel that the future is definitely mobile betting. There is no point fighting it - if that is what people are using then we need to adapt with the market. We've all seen people on the bus or tube playing casino games or in the pub putting their bets on while watching the football or cricket. It's going to be a huge market so we may as well cater for mobile gamblers just as much as we do for desktop.

    I use wordpress.

i don't think you got my point.

I'm not a bookie ( i definitely think bookie mobile sites are a good idea) . i have an affiliate site im slowly building. I think my affiliate site looks fine on a mobile browser without responsiveness and railroading people into certain content

Yes guys, the mobile is now used everyday, every hours by (almost) everyone.
So people use more mobile than computer I am pretty sure.
So as affiliates if you can target people with mobile its a big asset!

    So easy for the user:
    The short story:

Its Friday evening..Going back from work..In the train or the car..Its annoying the guy feels happy because this is the weekend..So it goes with it smartphone on it favorite website..A lottery banner? Why not this is Friday, everything is possible..

Then clicks, plays..A lot of people can react in the same way I would say.

I'm focusing on mobile for 5 years now and it earns me a good living. However, I think the future is not mobile r desktop, but mobile nd desktop. Many people want to play their favorite games on any device. So imho mobile-only programs won't survive in the end. By using a good responsive website, webmasters can offer the best of both worlds.

I tend to disagree with the future of betting being by mobile. Gambling companies have seen growth over the past years as the number of people who have access to the internet has increased so naturally this number also inflates the number of people using mobile as a source to access their account. It would be unwise for a gambling company not to cater for mobile users but the future of gambling being mobile I would question as I still believe regular browsers will continue to count for more than 50% of the browsing traffic for most if not all gambling operators.

I tend to agree with that thinking Simon.

Sure mobile will continue to grow, and I think sports betting has the potential to see stronger growth in mobile.

As an example, you are out to dinner or a meeting and it ran late delaying your arrival home to get a bet placed before a game, so you pull the car over (no betting behind the wheel) so you can fire up a mobile browser, log in and get your bet placed.

Personally, I play on my mobile all the time (it's called a laptop)....can't see crap on a 3 inch screen.

I agree with you and in fact, we just published a "guest contributor" post from Simon Cross of LuckyMobileSlots.com and he makes the exact same point- here it is:

"Mobile Players do not Only Play on Mobile Devices
Here is the biggest secret of them all. Mobile players might sign up to a casino because it has a good mobile platform, but the casinos that work best for us are the ones that also provide an online version. Because as much as we care to deny it, you do not get the rich and immersive variety of games on mobile as you do on online casinos. At least not yet. But players are starting to realise that there are options now for mobile play and they are looking. Once they find a good mobile casino, there is no reason why they wouldn’t come back to the online version to play for a longer session. Don’t take us wrong, we know that dedicated mobile casinos do very well, especially in the UK, but at least, for us and in the long term, the casinos that provide the whole package work better. The value of the player increases significantly, because one thing we have noticed is that mobile players tend to make smaller first deposits than online players, but if you get them to come back to your online platform, their value is of equal worth to any other online casino gambler out there."

Things are made easier and easier by mobile, and because of it's accessibility (anywhere, at any time), I believe it's a huge asset. However, the future is not only in mobile. It simply is another portal making online gambling accessible all the time.

I check my email from my mobile all the time, but I still use a PC! Gambling is the same - mobile won't replace the large screen!

I think many webmasters make the big mistake to assume the majority of the players feel the same way about online and mobile gambling as they do. For sure, the older generation may think likewise, but in my opinion and experience, the upcoming generation don't mind playing on a smaller screen at all. They are used to do almost anything on their phone. I know people who even read e-books on it. That's not my cup of tea, but by ignoring such facts, you're definitely missing a big (and increasing) part of the cake.

For me, I think the very definitions 'mobile' and 'desktop' based will become null and void in the not-too-distant future. The kind of quality operating system you get in a PC or Mac these days will fit to tablet sized devices in no time at all and your portable device, whether that be laptop or tablet, will hub into your desktop device.

This will blur the waters. At the moment, tablets are still labelled as mobile gaming devices. It is where most of "mobile" casino play takes place in those operator report numbers. Those using iPads - the vast majority of tablets out there - can duplicate the experience on their iPhone, although I tend to agree that playing slots or roulette on a 4 inch screen is not a great experience (although that is just my opinion).

That being said, who knows where mobile phones will go (projection technology?) - the first iPhone only came out 5 years ago.

Mobile will definitely continue to grow, I think it will take a while, after all there is a huge older generation that has just adjusted themselves to the whole online casino concept, mobile users are probably a new generation "younger" players. I know I have played a few games on my phone, its just not the same, not to mention I seem to be needing a larger and larger screen on my phone as my eyesight diminishes.

It's pure hype for me. I don't have a logical explanation, but it's more of a hunch. Mobile facebook, skype and you name it were also quite popular, but who pays attention to those anymore?

Sure lots of revenue in that field, nobody is denying that. However I didn't join this industry only for the money. If I don't feel the excitement I won't go for it. Seems like a lot of people are pushing themselves 'just cause more $$$ are involved" and that's fine as well. Whatever makes you happy.

I personally like big screens. With time even a 30" seems like a regular size, and those 22" seem so small (few years ago they appeared to me H U G E ).

Sure the younger generation are used to the small screens and phones, but let me ask you this. What % of the younger generation holds the big money all the casinos/books are after?

There is another factor here, and its the popularity of the ipads and streamers (apple tv, and many others...) which are fun to use while sitting at the comfort of your sofa at the leaving room, you can entertain yourself using the ipad which is also considered a strong mobile device with a relatively big screen
and if you also have a streamer so why not watch yourself playing on the big screen

If I would have to make an estimation on the matter; I would say ipads are stronger than the mobile phones in the online gambling arena.

Yes I think pads will continue to grow, but I think Microsoft's and Android tablets will experience more growth as a percentage then Apple's.

    They have the price advantage.

But like Tom said, the words "mobile" and "desktop" will become more blurred. I agree it is mostly hype since laptops are the true pioneers in "mobile" and they have been around for MANY years. It is the media hype that is trying to force us to think that mobile has to automatically mean a phone.

Yeap, I should have been more accurate, when I used the term ipads I actually meant mobile tablets of all kind & by all companies.
