    Default Gifts...?

So after a bit of talk around the office, and everyone laughing at me because the only time I've ever received flowers was for a really dodgy reason, I was wondering if there are other people out there like me who just don't receive gifts at work...

On the other hand, what's the best gift you've received:

    At work/in the office?
    On a special occasion?
    For no reason at all?

I received a charcoal drawing on my birthday a couple years ago of a naked me, which doesn't really look like me anyway, but is really nice.. probably my best gift received so far apart from a Christina Aguilera DVD (yes i'm her biggest fan)..

I bet there are some people out there who have gotten awesome cars for the sweet 16ths etc.. isn't that how it is in the states? At least, that's what it looks like on all the TV shows...

When my son was 3 or 4 he gave me a wire coat hanger draped with toilet paper as an ornament for the tree. The best present ever!

I am they type of guy who will just buy something for myself if it is a nominal value - which really frustrates people. But I really prefer a nice thoughtful gift... I hate giving gift cards as a present unless they are requested or designated for something I cant buy myself. My wife is very good to me and tries to get me little surprises for me from time to time.

Can't think of anything really specific. A surprise party, a 2 hour massage are some somewhat recent things I really remember.

hmm, dodgy gifts at work. I do have a story here.

I used to work in a men's clothing store. And a man came in with a woman, and I helped him with suit, shirt, tie, etc. in early Feb.

He then brought in chocolates on my day off, writing a little love note an a prescription (he was a doctor)

I thought it was sweet... called. went to dinner- told him I thought it was his wife with him. He denied it, just a lady friend.

Couple days later- his wife calls me!

That's the only gift I have received at work. Haha. What a disaster.

    Hahahahha Thats gold!

I got one gift at work a couple of weeks ago.. I was feeling really down and depressed and one of my girlfriends sent me a box of chocolates that she had them make which said Cheer Up Ren with little stars and hearts made of chocolate.. I thought that was really sweet.. made me cry actually..

The little things count the most

matted - i buy myself everything too.. i dont think i have much that i havent bought myself.. mostly coz i was sick of mentioning it to people who ask 'what do you want for christmas, what do you want for your birthday' to find they didnt listen to me at all.. so ive learned to tell people to get me nothing and just buy it myself..

Id definitely rather thoughtful gifts too.. actually one year, the same gf who sent me the chocolates above, gave me a bracelet for my birthday that has a panel on it engraved with a little heart cut out of it and it says Friends Forever on one side and has her name on the other side.. she got one for herself with my name on it too.. i havent taken it off in 10 years.

Could I start off with saying what I fear the most?

Opening up a present to find clothes. I am pretty sure I was traumatized as a kid.

The best present ever has to be return tickets to Tokyo from my folks. That was pretty sweet for a 21st.

    Arun, Tickets to Tokyo?

You didnt like the collage of naked self potraits of me? Dude.. I thought you'd love them! You didnt like the photos of a the big chubby indian?
    I am shocked!

Best gift I everrrrr got for Christmas, was a Nacho Libre DVD, and a Nacho Libre pen (where you click it and it plays funny quotes from the movie).

For my birthday it would have to be the hooters shirt.. which says "Nice Rack" and has a picture of of a Deer.

Just recently got this framed worldmap, with that old style look on it. And a pen to mark the spots I have been to and want to go to. Looks pretty nice on the wall, just to many spots that are empty. Hope that CAP Springbreak will sort out one more country.

    LOL
Not a gift, but I was on webcam with a friend last night and was wearing a shirt I bought in Canada that says NIKITA on it across my boobs, then underneath: For girls who ride.
He couldn't believe I wear it in front of my father.
Can you imagine if i had a shirt that said "Nice Rack"
    hahahah
    What an awesome shirt..

Bonustreak - feel free to send one of those my way

Actually come to think of it, i used to get regular gifts from a Chinese affiliate of mine.. He sent me some postal stamps, and last christmas he made me some fridge magnets of sea creatures.. and they're SO COOL! Ill have to take some pics of them over the weekend and post them.

Henrik your gift is awesome too.. I was doing my 'places ive been' or whatever on facebook and realised Ive been to more places than I thought, but also still have far too many blank spaces..

I wear the shirt, and I wear it proudly.
Its a bright yellow shirt, with a green nickline, and green sleeves.. the classic 70's t-shirt.

When I was 16, I received a home-made wooly jumper from my aunty, where one sleeve was a full eight inches longer than the other. Also, it had what my mum referred to as a 'plunge' neck line. All I knew was that it was not the best look for a sixteen year old lad...

My brother was in fits of laughter when he saw my gift. He was bent double, with tears rolling down his cheeks, he was laughing so much. Mind you, his present wasn't much better - a few jars of aunty's home-made jam with a good thick layer of mould on the top of each one!

I ended up 'accidentally' losing the jumper at school, but I now wish I'd kept it...

I received an Apple iPOD as a Christmas present from an affiliate program I represent - I was a newbie at that.

It was a few years ago and since I never stop surfing the Internet and gaming news, (I seldom if ever check music) I had to ask someone what it was! -LMAO - I gave it to my nephew who thought that I was definitely "awesome."

    Happy Holidays,
