...and to talk a little about competition.
Competition in the keyword tool is talking about competition for Adwords, or paid ads....not
SEO competition (though the two are linked to a point).
It's a reasonable
pointer to the value of any keywords of course (because if someone is paying to get clicks then theoretically they are paying because they make money...there is no guarantee to this though unless you see the same person or persons paying
consistently for those keywords).
But you have to think:
Say a phrase like 'play casino games' shows high number of searches and high adwords competition
A phrase like 'play casino games for money ' gets half the number of searches, and shows low competition.
It does not mean that 'play casino games ' is
definitely the term that would make you the most conversions. It could be that no one else has thought of targeting 'play casino games for money'...so you go and target it..you get to number 1, and you find out it makes you a bunch of conversions, more than you would have done by targeting a higher competition phrase.
This is a very simple example...but it starts bringing you into the area of 'long tail searches'....another deep subject for another day!!
