Google cache question

I wonder does anybody know how to sort out this issue;

I have redesigned site completely 45 days ago; site is done in php so natural consequence is that my url's have changed; from page_id=23 (old) to page_id=33 (new), with more or less same content (brand or targeted keywords).

Now, old page 23 has been indexed by google and was bringing traffic. New page 33 is indexed by google but in search results it is still showing page 23 although that page is not existing anymore. This is due to the google cache, that much I know, or at least think I know

This is bad and I know that it will be re-indexed with the time but what can I do to speed it up?

Google has URl removal service on webmaster tools; Crawler access section but not sure what option to choose;

What would you like to remove from Google search results?

Removals are effective for 90 days. You can revoke a removal at any time. If, after 90 days, the page is blocked or doesn't exist, the page will not be displayed in the Google search results.

1.) Individual URLs: web pages, images, or other files Remove outdated or blocked web pages, images, and other documents from appearing in Google search results.
2.)A directory and all subdirectories on your site Remove all files and subdirectories in a specific directory on your site from appearing in Google search results.
3.)Your entire site Remove your site from appearing in Google search results.
4.)Cached copy of a Google search result Remove the cached copy and description of a page that is either outdated or to which you've added a noarchive meta tag.


Def not option 3, maybe 4 will be good?
Anybody have any suggestions or experience with this?

Can you put in a 301 redirect from the old pages to the new pages.

I would be very careful with the remove url tool, this could have an adverse reaction based up[on your post.

So the pages are "named" the same correct?

If so, only time will fix this.

In order to speed the process slightly, what might help is to get a few inbound links to some of the pages and it may speed reindexing/caching of the pages.

Also, if you are using an xml sitemap, make sure the date changes on it for those pages.

If you are NOT using an xml sitemap, finish the bulk of your updating and list one and this certainly speed up the cache update process.

Pages that used to hold content with id 23 is now page with id 33

That means that old page 23 used to hold content for xxx sportsbook. Now that same content is page 33. Google is still showing 23, which might not exist or holds different content now. So there is a danger that if I erase google cache I might erase newly indexed pages as well.

I do use xml sitemap but still indexing of new pages is going slow and cache seems to have priority over newly indexed pages! That is the problem.

What I can do is change page id's in DB and match old and new pages numbers but then have to relink pages internally which is a pain, and I'm afraid that might be even more confusing for google.

However, next time when I gonna do major changes, will just save the pages with same id as they are indexed by google already and avoid this situation.

It might be the best to leave it as it is for now and wait for a while until google finds out about changes by default.

So if you are preparing major changes, note this problem and think about it in advance, don't fall into this trap!

Does anybody know how long this change might take?

Wel besides 301 on the pages that did change I think time is the only thing then.

What you shoud do is try to ask your hosting if they allow the Apache 1.2 thus making it possible to redesign the URL-s of your pages...

Tehre is a mod_rewrite tag in Apache Server Lang. where you can create a static UDL from your dynamic ones if that is the case. I assume, ?ID= you're using as parameters...

This wayyour new internal pages will have a static url and the search biots canb index AND rank them far easier.
