It changed as quick as I found out about it. I've been flu-ridden and offline except for here a tiny bit and didn't read my readers.

Its just one more social media tools that google has chimed in late on and will open the gates to everyone, including me! (tee hee hee) so we viral the crap out of it and make everyone have to have one like gmail in its early days.

I tried to join it a few days ago and was put on a waiting list (lol)

But this should change some things in SEO land as google could surely check the social status of a site now that it owns a social network!
I think we are in for quite a few changes in the coming months with google owning a social network and that stuff on html 5 . Add this all up !!

I think the html5 deal was regarding mobile compliance across flash sites. This plus thing is just as you say. They already monitor most social networks and may as well own they. Everything most SEO's and otherwise do IS FOR google ranks.

I understand they are already set to offer the +1 as a token like McAfee and Neteller.

yes correct my error it about mobile ( was on my mind as doing a site with that now)
I just think with them owning 1 ,it will add more value in it algo's for social networks etc

I agree. They own it, monitor it and have now tried to re-created it. They have saturated the net since the Panda update (an actually well before that) with the "major significance" social media is taking. Fantastic timing.

It's pathetic.

They have Masterminded their own viral monster...not once with gmail, but again with 'plus'...invite only.

We all need their Investment Counselor/VC Manager/Forward-Thinking Politically based Googlemite's to think for us.

Where is Google's tit? Just want to have a 'heads-up' before the rush.
