GPWA Conference or Meet ups

Has Michael ever given a thought of holding conferences under the GPWA brand; instead of attending them. It could be even smaller meet ups in any major city of the world.

I know at least one news website (finance) that started off with small (10 to 15 people) social meet ups; and now holds 2500 to 5000 attendee conferences in London, Limassol and Beijing.

Years ago before Michael became involved we held a separate meeting for GPWA members during one of the regular conferences in Vegas, that was maybe 2004?

I would like to see a 2-hour block set aside for us during G2E 2018. Just name a time and place and we'll buy our own drinks. Could even be as simple as "Meet at the Rio Sportsbook from 8-10pm on Thursday".

We have held a number of conferences in the past, and I have listed them below at the end of this post. A couple were stand-alone, such as the event in London in November 2008 and in Las Vegas in September 2006. Besides those listed below, where there were actual sessions, we also held cocktail parties in Las Vegas for a number of years. The most recent, held for the fourth year in a row, was in 2011 as announced in this thread: GPWA affiliate networking cocktail party in Las Vegas Tuesday October 4th.

The issue we had with the Las Vegas cocktail party was that with the change on the legal front, no affiliate programs were willing to attend anymore, or act as sponsors. We did it for a year or two on our own, hoping that would change, but it didn't, and so after a while we threw in the towel. We also decided that there were lots of affiliate conferences, and so it made more sense to work alongside them rather than trying to compete with them.

That said, I do think helping to organize something again in Las Vegas for affiliates makes a great deal of sense, so I think we should definitely look into doing that. There have been various affiliate-oriented activities in recent years, but most of them have not been very well publicized.

Given the status of online gaming and affiliation in the US - is that any surprise?
