The mobile gaming marketplace is becoming much more important than it once was. And the software and games available is steadily improving. As I was reading the new issue of the GPWA Times magazine, and particularly the article with executives from Amaya gaming that touches on poker in a mobile world, I wondered how many GPWA members have actually played on mobile devices themselves.

So, this week's poll asks whether on not you have gambled on a mobile device. And, if you have, what sorts of gambling have you done using a mobile device. Be sure to also share your thoughts about mobile gambling and whether you feel it effects what you are earning now.

Yes - placed some very basic sports bets via phone at several sites.
Betting this way is an OK experience if you know what you want to bet on before hand.

It's not very good in terms of searching for a good angle and good value bet when compared with a bigger screen.
It's a convenience for an impulse bet - but not a main medium for me.

Would be very interested with a follow up question - have you ever JOINED a gambling site via mobile phone?
I suspect very few people do- the interface is just too cluncky.

Personally, smart phones are nothing but smaller versions of pads (that also make phone calls) and generally are on different service provider plans; and pads or smart phones are just smaller versions of laptops....

I have been playing on laptops for quite a number of years, and can actually see what is on the screen.

No, never. I also don't really do much with mobile gambling though either so haven't felt the need to do much research.

Once I have my current new projects established I might take look at mobile gambling, which will probably involve taking some mobile sites for a test drive.

stuck bets on via my iphone when in the pub, but thats as far as I'd go

if you need or want to start playing casino games on your phone when down the boozer you need your head testing and most probably have a gambling problem, and are drinking in boring pubs, and have no friends

I've never gambled on a mobile device but I do test the mobile apps and websites of affiliate partners to make sure they are up to scratch, especially the sign up process.

I'd be interested to know how others have found mobile sign up rates compared to desktops. I'd imagine they are lower but haven't seen much information on the topic.

I have only ever made sports bets over my phone. For me using it for poker just seem like it work with such a small screen but that is just my opinion. I think I would be willing to play casino games on my phone before playing poker.

Well the only time I ever played when to test out our new mobile casino site. It turns out I'm just as good at losing in mobile casinos as I am in real ones haha...

I'm surprised it's taking so long for a decent range of casino games to come on to the market, netent have some good slots and I believe microgaming have a few variations of their normal slots released for mobile devices.
I've played slots (entent) on my iphone and ipad and found it very easy and the gameplay was very good, also quite often place bets on my phone if out and about.
I can't see poker ever being too popular on mobile devices apart from a quick session of rush/zoom poker due to the lack of huds and difficulty in multitabling.

I have actually gambled on several casinos on tablets mostly. It's actually kinda awesome and for me, lot more fun than at my computer as can do it whilst watching TV or in bed. Easier than grabbing your laptop.

I'm a convert towards mobile and HTML5 games personally. Way forward people!

Hi All,

Great topic.

I have tested mobile device for gambling. This is now and the future, so I think we need to get used to it.

Websites need to have responsive design to accommodate all screen sizes.

I am very surprised that more games for mobile devices are not coming out.

The 10 and 7 inch tablets are great and very easy to use.

A mobile phone is a little small for my liking but great for placing bets on sports.

Gooner, You're right here. Definitely on the mobile phone it's difficult to sign-up. Me, I would join on the desktop or tablet before playing on the phone.

I'm a keen slots player so have tried playing on my mobile - the amount of slots available is pretty poor to be honest despite NetEnt releasing a lot more games on their mobile (Touch) product.

You can't beat playing on a laptop/computer though - bonus features in the Marvel slots for example can't be experienced in the same way on a tiny screen in my opinion.

I think you'd be very surprised - mobile acquisition is very significant and is still increasing (as a % of desktop acquisition) for Paddy Power, especially on mobile focused products such as Sportsbook and Casino. I expect other operators see the same trend too.

I don't think people who are using mobile are those who are looking to browse around for a shrewd bet. I'd say that the demographic of affiliate webmasters, who have a very different outlook on the industry (heavily focused on earning money) aren't the same kind of person who is signing up to an operator on a mobile. It's partly impulse bettors (might want to bet on the game on TV in the pub / browsing twitter on the bus), partly people looking to bet on major events, and partly those who just prefer to use a mobile/tablet for browsing nowadays and spend less time on a desktop. Whilst the signup process is there, the first two kinds of players have decided already that they're going to make a bet so the slower signup process, whilst not ideal, isn't a major problem for the industry. There is a lot of optimising that can be done and it's an area that all operators will continuously look to improve. I definitely wouldn't neglect it as an affiliate though - check your Analytics and I think you'll be surprised to see the device volumes for mobile!

I bet live using my mobil phone at betfair on live matches, maybe once in a week .It s not the same experience like betting on a laptop.

For sports betting, a mobile device is progress. For classic casino games, mobile devices are a curse. If you are already in the outdoors, then you should enjoy the nature. For gambling you can sit in the bathroom.

The dependence on mobile devices increases.

I played one time on my ipad and honestly could not wait to lose my money just hated the limited game selection and was not the same as playing on my 24 inch monitor lol.

As others mentioned above, the signup process can be a bit slower due to typing in on touchscreen taking longer than typing on a keyboard, but overall can still sign up in a minute or so.

I actually liked betting on the tablet version more than the normal WBX.com homepage. Can see the appeal of it as well being able to bet at a sporting event, or anywhere there is a long wait like on a train trip.

Mobile betting is the way forward. It feels like only a few years ago that touch screen phones were being introduced and now just about every phone coming out is packed with features. I'm getting my wife the Samsung Galaxy S4 for her birthday, or trying to at least - it's been sold out at every store I've called so far.

I agree with Luke that it is just going to become a larger and larger part of affiliate earnings over time so makes sense to keep tabs on what your affiliate programs have on offer for mobile and integrate that into your websites wherever you can.

Love the sports betting option on mobile - wherever you happen to be while the game is taking place, there is your phone, that easy it is to bet.

Some data we've been picking up through our reporting is 50 percent of all sports bets placed in the U.K. are done on mobile devices. And one poker room is reporting 50 percent of their new acquisitions are arriving through a mobile device. This tracks with the larger multi-screening trend in entertainment, where people routinely watch TV with either their table or smart phone in hand.
