Re the first question.........

You may already know this, but looking at hosting in isolation is probably not the optimal way to approach it...

So.....

1. You don't need to have the 'fastest' to be OK with your site, 'just' fast enough
2. It's not just the hosting (although it's a starting point), it's a combination of hosting/theme/optimizations that gives the final result.

In my opinion, one of the best solution for hosting a WordPress website is on a good VPS, located near your targeted visitors.

Let's say you're targeting Arab countries, then you're VPS location should be in the Arab countries, or near.

You can optimize the website speed using different plugins, or by hiring an expert to do it for you.

This 'solution' is good for speed and SEO too.

With testing. But it gets complicated because as soon as you add plugins and/or content (DOM size, tables, video etc etc) in any form you are introducing variables. So most industry types that run tests tend to do it on a clean/minimal install (ie just the domain, hosting, and base theme)...maybe adding the same basic content to each one if they are comparing.

But it's all kind of irrelevant.....you don't need to be the fastest, you just need to be fast enough and not slow....except for maybe in a very few very specific instances (although that could change, but would seem unlikely)

You can get very good results using a VPS (Linode, Vultr, AWS, etc) at a quite low cost (sub 250$ a year) and the free version of cloudflare if you use a caching plugin on top of that on your WP set-up (WPRocket is great, but there are others).

As mentioned, server location is very important, but also the quality of your template. If you have decent wordpress experience, you can try and create your custom template using generatepress which is one of the fastest theme on the market, if not, try and buy a premium theme made for affiliates.

Also, try and keep the number of plugins etc low on the site or it will be slow regardless of your hosting.

If you don't need anything super complex front-end wise (no ajax etc), you can use a "static" wordpress set-up, like getshifter.io
It's not the easiest to set-up, but nothing can beat that speed-wise
