How to avoid ending up in spam
Hi,
I'd like to share what I learned from my mistakes
while running email subscription.
I have been planning for some time to engage with email marketing,
and went live with it few days ago. Basically, I send a list of
free football predictions everyday to my subscribers.
I thought it was enough to add 2 things to avoid being marked as spam:
1. subscription confirmation - used for validation purposes and avoiding funny emails like lkslakska@kdks.com etc.
2. unsubscribe link - if subscribers get bored from my daily emails.
Well, those two things aren't enough. I was very happy to see my first newsletter end up in gmail spam.
Then I googled gmail guidelines for sending bulk mail https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126 .
My advice is, read it and follow it.
Hopefully, it will be of help to some of you that are planning on doing some email
marketing.
Feel free to share your experiences with email marketing.
Do you run your own implemented email subscription, or use third party email service like mailchimp?

Thanks for sharing your tips and the GMail link.
Personally we use GetResponse - the vast majority of emails do reach the recipient's inbox, with very few undelivered or bounced.
Something I would say with GMail is that our regular emails can land in the Promo tab but this can soon be changed within the user's account.
Encouraging your users to whitelist your email address can also help with delivery.

Thanks! I followed your advice on whitelisting recommendation for my subscribers.
Maybe it'll do some good.
