Question How central are bonus offers to your promotion of online gaming sites?

Bonus offers are frequently used by affiliates as one of the central focuses for getting visitors to visit and play at an online gaming sites. But they are one of many approaches to getting players to visit and sign up on sites.

Other common focuses include reviews, information about games offered, news, sites rankings and comparison with other sites, and the list goes on.

For this week's poll share how important the role of bonus offers is on your site. And please post your view of their relative importance in the eyes of players versus the other information you offer.

From what I have read over the last few months, quite a lot of us are getting rid of bonus information. It is changing too often now and with all the compliance emails coming in thick and fast it is a nightmare to constantly change everything. I have removed all bonus info now. Its nice to be able to just delete update offer emails now.

Since about three months ago (roughly when all the compliance requirements came through), I removed bonus info and just link to the casinos. Interestingly, my sign-ups/FTD's have remained pretty consistent, they certainly didn't drop as a result!

I've gone bonus-free for my UK traffic, except for where it's feasible to display all relevant key terms and conditions. Tables, carousels etc I've replaced them with simple ratings.

Hard to imagine these changes will improve CTR, but they may improve conversions as the traffic will be of a higher quality i.e. not bonus chasers.

I'll give it a few months and then see how things have moved.

I am surprised by how many view it as relatively unimportant, despite the fact that that is how I voted also.

It's something that I think small scale punters look at and it's also something that AM's and programs are changing regularly and they seem to value it as an important part of customer recruitment ... so accordingly we have to promote it and keep it up to date.

Personally, it's just one of a number of items, so it is recorded in our reviews.

My best programs offer little or no bonuses, the bigger the bonus = less conversions for my traffic small or no bonus= more FTD

Bonuses attracts a certain kind of customer; the one that needs to be avoided.

My experience was following: I had some exclusive bonuses with some casinos. Eg. 400 EUR with Bwin, 1000 EUR with already non existing Doxxbet and it did not make any difference in numbers of registrations I saw at the end. Maybe after a deeper analysis, which I was unable to make would come some trends but I consider promoting bonuses as a pain in the ass, since every now and then I have to update all of my pages and that takes time.

I have quite the same experience

Not that much. Our focus is kind a different than bonuses like exclusivity.

Bonus offers in the majority of all cases are pure rip-off.

The wager requirements often goes beyond the mathematical expectation. That means, the player in the long run will lose more money if he takes the bonus!

So stay away from e.g. Roulette bonus if the wager requirements are higher than 37x with a 100% approval. If the approval of wagering at Roulette is only e.g. 50% than already a wager requirement of 19x is your financial demise and you should refuse the bonus, even if the bonus terms are friendly.

Winnings with bonus are limited or will be terminated by backdoor terms.
Many terms are written in a wishy-washy form, so they can outsmart every player they want.

So unfortunately, bonus offers from online casinos have nothing to do with honest comps or player cards in the real casino world.

Many webmaster, who are writing about bonus offers, not even now the requirements or the matching terms. Readers will be deceived and lose later their winnings and in some cases even their own money, the complete deposits.

The climax of the insanity are the no-deposit-bonus, where only freeloaders and tramps are finding the way into the casino.

So how central are bonus offers for me?

I gave you the answer with this lines.

As promoters of a specific type of bonus, it is naturally the most important attribute we push. However, we also value the importance of the terms of that bonus, as well as other favourable promotions the operator may run.

I've reduced the number of places offers are shown on site, instead directing customers in a better way to specific bonuses pages.

I think it is still a really important factor and wouldn't want to abandon bonuses entirely. The good thing about compliance changes is it shows the customer more clearly the requirements of these bonuses which may in time lead to companies offering better promotions as they can no longer hide high wagering requirements or poor terms.

Although it is annoying to constantly update offers it does mean you are updating pages more frequently which can help rankings.

Do you not think the number of times you have to repeat yourself when it comes to the T&Cs that it will dilute your rankings?

I was thinking more within individual reviews.

With compliance text the way it is now I don't expect my bonuses pages to rank directly, rather I am finding better ways to direct traffic on my sites to those pages.

For the visitors the bonus offer looks the most important information.
