Give someone a reason to link to your site and then approach them and ask for a link!

Link building is a tedious job.
I suggest you forget about link building and focus more on relationship building. Why? Because most of the link building techniques are against google guidelines and considered as link scheme. But relationship building is a link building in a proper way. How? You don't just do it with an intent to gain backlinks but you do it for establishing reputation and trust on a certain community. Plus, relationship building is more beneficial for long term goals.

Again, I am being vague here and but offer value to other webmasters and more importantly to your visitors.

Create some media/content based around your betting analysis activities. Tips and picks in general are terrible for getting links. They are probably some of the most unlinkbale content types there area along with casino promotions news. That doesnt mean that they are not worth doing, it just means that a natural link from them is as rare as hens teeth.

Jackpot.co.uk did a super piece of research recently. I haven't checked what links it got, but I'm sure they would get many fairly easily with some outreach. That is something that adds value and other webmasters and users would be interested in. That is the kind of content you should look to create (start smaller) and then look to offer it to websites who might find it interesting.

On your site there are issues too preventing people from linking to you. When I land on the page, I'm not overly clear what the site is about. On a quick inspection it looks like a paying for picks type site.

If that is the case, why should I chose your site over any of the 100 other tipping sites. Give a reason to the users. I don't see any proof that you are good. No offence, but the design itself isn't very linkable too. The content will not get links naturally - and the fact you are offering advertising space in your prime retail space on the homepage suggests the site is going no where (to the visitor!).

I suggest a more professional e-commerce type design and some plan to show why you are a betting picking site to others. The sales funnel is not clear to me.

Again, that is all constructive and not intended to insult.

It's true what pinkytoe says. I'm sure 6-7 years ago, a lot of people linked tips around the forums, but I don't think they are even allowed now. I mean times changed, even if they like your content, most would probably wanna share it via fb or twitter or whatever platform.

I know that people have had success with infomercials and other interesting to read content. I myself have had luck with streaming schedules and various bet calculators. They don't cost millions and people find them useful. This is just from the top of my mind. I'm sure there's a lot of other ideas, that people may be or may not be willing to share.

In my opinion link building is a waste of time. While the first step to a friendly google ranking is to link to your own material within your site. Google is starting to focus more on content now then ever before and I suggest less time finding places to add your link ( other than your own social networks g+ etc ) and more time writing good content.

    Hi Pinkytoe,

    Thanks for your constructive advice!

The next bit might sound defensive but its just our perspective :

I donīt think the focus of the site is difficult to understand has we blog, tip and offer some tutorials and opinion----however,our main business is betting syndicates.

We offer free tips everyday and i think they work to a degree, i.e. we have quite a big following both on the site and Facebook, these are our bread and butter visitors!

We do offer unique content which has bought us plenty of positive feedback --like you suggest, maybe we should do more.

With regards to our sports bets, they are all well documented (google drive) and available for inspection.

The advertising banner as produced fair results and we have managed to stay away from affiliates--- All the same itīs good to hear your opinion.

    Where i totally agree:

Subscriber tips have never really been our focus, they where added to commercialize the site and it brings some value, however, i totally agree that it would look better on an e-commerce site and it should be removed, another issue in this regard, we tip Asian handicaps, 95% of Europeans donīt understand them!

We are not technical so we use a webmaster, sometimes we are scared to ask for changes has it creates havoc,i.e. the house is built,we can only renovate.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write,i will certainly be thinking about it!

I really disagree with the opinion that the link building is a completely waste of time.
Of course, the times of excessive link building methods are over.
Links (quality of links precisely) are still in the third or fourth position in the algorithms.
Of course, algorithms include perhaps over 200 other various signals.
However, having some dozens of quality links (slowly and smartly) could only help ranking higher.
    Good luck with your project!

When talking about linkbuilding the first I would do is to meet offline or online my competitors. If you are friend with them you would far easier have links from their sites or you could make a project together or something.

There are tons of opportunities! The other thing you need the relevant links from trusted websites to get to the top.

Like it was said before, you can create something worth linking, for example: research, infographic, video review, podcast, etc. + do the right outreach to those who might be interested in linking to your content.

I agree with the comments about focusing more in your content and creating a search engine friendly site. Links can come at a later stage

I don't think link building is a waste of time if you cannot buy google, bing adwords. I would suggest using a tool like linkresearchtools.com to find non-toxic links that are good for your website. Also I would think that linking out to good sites would be good IMO, you may get EARN great backlinks in return.

@X is on point with the social sharing, that is not SEO but it is a good source of traffic that can covert. Your followers may be a blogger and link back to you.

Forum link building is great especially if it is a moderated VBulletin forum but that is not the only way for good white hat link building. Research other sites and see what their marketing plan looks like. When I changed my perception from getting backlinks to developing a good marketing plan it worked well for me. Good luck with your sites

I am not sure if you should do link building at all. First of all we have to clarify what link building is. A link in a forum of course is a link but what are other methods to get good links without paying for them? I saw some ranking improvements for sites that donīt do link building at all. I also see pages in the top rankings that have only 1-2 backlinks and also not really good ones. There is always a risk that search engines see a link as unnatural but I also think that it depends on the amount of link before they see them as unnatural. I think currently itīs better not to do too much link building and focus on quality instead.

Let's hope that is the case, we are aiming for quality content and lots of it but at the moment in google you can see terrible websites with only one or two pages that score massively for multiple search terms and I can only imagine this is due to them spamming the heck out of everywhere they can find!

You could always look up their link profile and see for yourself no?
