It depends if you have luck enough...
Grem is right a few people say otherwise, but social shares are pretty much essential, I don't agree entirely with this data some with be correlative as opposed to causative but.... http://www.searchmetrics.com/en/whit...ctors-uk-2012/
I think that Facebook is more effective than Twitter... with Twitter you don't have enough space to say everything.![]()
My own personal experience over 2 years with twitter (approx 15,000 followers across approx 30 accounts), is that it's mostly just sheds loads of marketers following marketers, following marketers, following marketers. You get the drift?
It would be different I'm sure, if I were a celeb or the dev/support team for a popular online service that keeps breaking down.
Aside from bingo, which is a social game. I still not convinced that enough actual players/gamblers players want their mates to know that they gamble, or indeed how often they gamble.
I had a mind-shift in December where I finally accepted/decided that it simply doesn't work for me. I've reduced the amount of time I spend on it and only keep it going in case the people that say "it helps SEO in a roundabout-sort-of-way" are actually right.
That's my opinion. But remember that opinions are like ar**holes... every one has one.

Based on personal experience the traffic brought from there, only gave me wondering eyes and nothing much else. I keep seeing that everyone says it's important, but it's based on speculations, things they have read, and on one video where Matt Cutts says "yes we monitor" facebook activity, but that it.
Apart from this, I can't see one valid legitimate point, explained by GODGLE, the source of all. Not to mention that I took the liberty to wonder around and find the facebook pages of dozen giant websites in the industry. Despite the big amount of likes, only a bunch of people talk about them and it's mainly from countries like Malaysia.
Add to that, hundreds or thousands of facebook like swaps, tons of webmasters, following other webmasters just like foxtucker mentioned. I can see localized clones working, as they tend to focus on specific ethnicity, and know people's mentality.
Bottom line, unless someone comes out with a chart based on years of testing, on a good portion of sites, where they compare site with FB likes vs such without, or not even FB, any social site, I will keep on taking this as just another SEO hype.
Some way its effective but there are other ways also to brand better and once it become, then traffic will automatically flow. Branding is necessary.
You can use Facebook to advertise with a Live Bets page or live group betting or something else if you promote bookies.
I don t like Twitter.
On Google+ I have over 3.800 friends and it is like an empty stadium.Nobody hear you.
But I think the google+ button, in the future, will help my sites.

Well, I am using various social media sites right now for the promotions of my blog and results are awesome Number of Index and pages and PA/DA has been improved of all the blogs and even I am getting good Back-Links. I will recommend Tumblr, Facebook, Reddit and Digg for better social optimization
Last night I was looking for some info about blogger and I found a site HootSuite. Maybe you know what I am talking about but if you dont you have to try it.
It s great for social networking.
I totally agree with the danish affiliate manager of crazy rewards. Facebook and Twitter marketing both involve engagement with the people. If you just add friends/followers and post status updates ofcourse nothing will happen. I am not saying however this doesn't helps your passive traffic numbers slightly up but I want to make a clear point here: When you have PERSONAL interaction with your social media friends or followers you can MAKE A LOT OF MONEY!! For instance imagine a person on Twitter tweeting: having difficulties downloading PartyPoker Client ; Help him/her out personally and they will sign up via your link, on revenue share, seeing you as authority in the market, referring friends etc all to boost your online income. I cannot highlight this any more: ENGAGE with your followers/friends to see BIG results in social media. I help 5-10 people out daily via social media and 8/10 turn in to real money players on my trackers. Just use social medias for what it's made for: engagement of other people, don't spam your links because we have all been tricked into that now and then. Also with the use of Feedburner and Yahoo Pipes it isn't very hard to syndicate and generate new content every day for free. There's probably a lot of 40 year old's in your niche top 10 google results; they don't use these technologies; it is not hard to rank above these guys using RSS and Yahoo Pipes.

Hootsuite is a tool to schedule tweets in advance. Please read my comment as this way you can only auto-pilot and schedule tweets wich comes down to link spamming / promoting your URL only. Just ENGAGE with your followers/friends to see much bigger results.
Denuz01 I have personal interaction with my social media friends on Facebook because I have fb group about betting live but not on Twitter.
It s a good advice.Thanks
Sorry but (Feedburner and Yahoo Pipes) are NOT generating new content but re-publishing content someone else created.
Some decent tips in the thread though.

If an affiliate program is not small affiliate friendly (especially small US Affiliate), then they are NOT Affiliate Friendly!
i agree it's for scheduling tweets, but it is also a nice dashboard for following your social profiles across platforms... i am still trying it out so can't say if it's a trick or actually useful.

A lot of SEO software suites nearly always include details of Social media shares such as Facebook likes and Tweets, so these developers seem to think it has some sort of benefit. But I guess the only way we'd get this confirmed would be via Google themselves, however I think if they did this, every web master in the land would go into Social media overkill.
Also, based on the strain between Google and Facebook following the addition of the Facebook search tool, safe to say Google are not so pro Social media atm.
Don't forget - Google+ is a social network too!
I don't know about all gambling sites, but I do know for bingo it can be quite difficult to get people talking about playing the game online in social media. Generally they don't want others to know they engage in this activity.
Social mentions and engagements help sites rank well. It is proven, it is not speculation whatsoever. Google includes social metrics in anyalitics and even assigns the really good ones a special little icon. That is the measure of the actual social posts/re-shares so it must be relevant if they provide tracking tools correct?
But you don't even need a link to what you are talking about to help it move up. Search is smart enough to know that if I say something that obviously references a website without a link, it still has to do with what I was talking about. Everyone knows that Casino Bonus and Free Chip is a site about USA online casinos where there are bonuses, so when people on any social network talk about it, things do well. If I were a robot, I would want other humans to tell me what to like, and this is how I would do it!
My answer: very effective
