Default How to know you are not being cheated by affiliate program

First things first, been a long time lurker, finally made the plunge and signed up.

If my question has been addressed elsewhere, appologies but I could (strangely) not find any related info. I would like to know how do you know you are not being cheated by affiliate programs.

Our site is registered with some top bookmakers Sportingbet, BetVictor etc. We get (very) good click through rates but, the click through rate / to signups is unnaturally low. I realize few people clicking through will register but we are talking an unnaturally low number?

    1. Do you just blindly trust affiliate programs, having complete faith that they will correctly report on each account signup? This is especially aimed at lesser known / newer sportsbooks.
    2. There seems to be a huge inconsistency between our google analytics account and our affiliate account in terms of impressions. I.E google analytics will display 3000 visitors to a post with an affiliate link, where the sportsbook (which I am not mentioning) generally shows a 50% lower impression rate...This is what trigered my concern for question 1.

Am I wrong to question this, has anyone ever been cheated by an affiliate program, or am I being over paranoid?

1- yes, we have to trust. But if you think they are cheating you, just change affiliate program, there are a lot of good ones here.

2- there is always some inconsistency between data from analytics and the affiliate platform.

top bookies? Betvictor will close your account if for whatever reason you stop sending new customers stealing your "lifetime" commission.

Just a quick thought; hoping not to insult anyone's intelligence here

Are the impressions you are reviewing definitely on banner and not a textlink?

Banners will record an impression and subsequent clicks but a text link only the click as there is no corresponding image to be served.

I know it's affiliate 101 but thought I'd mention it anyway!

Have you created test accounts and deposits of your own then checked that it shows up in your stats?

just to add to this. if you create test accounts be sure to let your affiliate managers know before hand or it could lead to problems later.

I don't "trust" any affiliate program. That's imo not relevant in any way and also impossible.

I trust numbers. Clicks vs. $. The one that gets me the most is the one i trust.

You have no way in the world to know if you are shaved or not. Assume that you are. So just go with the ones that generate you the best return on your traffic and forget the rest.

Of course, I am talking long time. Not some out-of-nowhere-program that can bring money for short time and vanish.

If one casino doesn't convert at all while others do, then you are either being cheated or the casino sucks. Either way, I simply remove non-converting. It also helps to read what other affiliates are saying about a sponsor before I promote them. If most of the affiliate reviews are negative, then it's better to stay away.

One tip I can offer here is to setup your own reporting as much as possible.

You can track clickthroughs with Google Analytics event tracking very easily or use Ad management plugins (if you are on Wordpress) that make it even easier to track clicks on text links, banners, iframe loads.

Then you can take this data and compare it to hits in your affiliate backend.
I know it's not end-to-end but still some form of cmparison.

There are only very few affiliate programs that allows you to add your pixel tracking that actually gives you your own conversion data - although it's likely they won't allow third party pixels only if you are a big affiliate.

When it comes down to the nitty gritty of trusting your affiliate program it's a bit like religion. You pray that the casino manager is not de-tagging your players. Read about my recent experience here: https://www.gpwa.org/forum/yebo-casi...ed-229489.html

I would tend to trust the bigger programs and not ones where the affiliate manager is also the casino manager.
