at least 8 hours a day and on weekends. That is the bare minimum IMHO.

We work on our sites every day, including weekends and holidays. Very rare that our sites are not touched and worked on in some way each day. Pleased to say that the work is paying off.
If the big boys and girls with 20+ employers are working 7 days a week I believe it's best to do the same.

I try to work every day
Sometimes 20 hours continuously and sometimes a month without even logging on to the site. It all depends on the time available. Every free moment I try to improve something on the site. Most of my time is taken up by handling other language versions.
I can't wait until I have everything written and translated. A huge amount of work will go away without writing and translating.
I work 4 hours a day on my website. I think this is enough.
2-4 hours of work on strategies (new geographies, analysis of brands, competitors, the amount of potential semantics, launching new sites, communication with aff managers, monitoring traffic, positions, links, etc.)
I spend 4 hours on ordering content, its placement and design (I don't recommend to delegate this at first stages)
I try to work 4 days a week, especially profitable days and high rollers motivate me to work more)
But I believe that the most important thing in SEO is consistency and since many processes are outsourced, work on sites goes almost every day.
About 10 hours a week. Some weeks I do something everyday and some weeks I only work on it 3 days a week or so. I know my website is not the biggest but that's also not my goal.
After I started planning my day and using a task tracker for self-control, I began completing tasks faster. It takes me 3 to 8 hours to one site per day. On weekends, I try to relax, but to be honest, it doesn't always work out.
Maybe a better question would be how often folks work in a single page? Granted this will likely depend where in the rankings you are. One issue to try avoid is making too many adjustments to a page and if it tanks it's hard to know what changes had a negative impact.
everyday 12 hours plus.. sometimes 7 days per week
