Http to Https - Social Count

Hi,

I moved my site to https and of course lost all social count (facebook likes and such).

I was trying to solve it with "og:url" but since the change was done with let’s encrypt and it doesn't go through htaccess, then this solution doesn't work.

on FB sharing debugger getting this message:

• Inferred Property
  The 'og:image' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
  
  
• Missing Properties
  The following required properties are missing: og:image, fb:app_id
  

Any idea how to solve this?

Surely forcing SSL in htaccess will work ..
I use lets encrypt on all my sites

2 possible solutions..

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{ENV:HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}


or


RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.domain\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.domain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

I think the 1st example should work in your situation

Yes, but i think because the https is forced not through htaccess or maybe because it's "forced" the exception for FB doesn't like the one here (https://www.mightyminnow.com/2014/05...ttp-and-https/) doesn't work.

Basically, i see this on https site: <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.slotmachinesonline.co/" /> instead of http://

Tried with Yoast OG feature. With Addtoany js script. Nothing works for some reason.
Maybe also need to change something in cloudflare https settings to allow that.

first of all correct this in the header file
<meta property="og:url" content="http://www.slotmachinesonline.co/" />

Its giving conflicting info
Also set this manually ..
js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3";

to

js.src = "https://connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3";


Can you also give me an example url of where I could find a facebook like box ( sorry I'm too lazy to look my pc slow as hell today )

It seems that since the change wasn't done with htaccess - i am not able or can't find how, to exclude FB robot from the https. It needs to somehow access http version but not sure how.

Have you placed this in the header.php ?

Losing all our social counts sucked. Still haven't recovered most of them. Shame too, had a couple pages with 3 figures of organic likes.

If you fail at getting everything back, you can always run a few little contests requiring FB likes directed at your main money pages to earn back that "social proof".

I would say this is where the problem and it doesn't let to add exception to fb crawler in htaccess.

Not having a dig at the OP or anyone else for that matter...

However, and as a heads up, IF you intend to make a living out of being a full-time affiliate, then this is why learning some basic programming skills is imperative, and also learning to use cPanel too. NB - WordPress & its plugins are great, however they don't fix every issue.

Hence, knowing how to fix simple stuff like this, will save you time, money and headaches

Hey, you are 100% correct. I do learn things as i go (4 years ago it took me a week to place "hello world" on server.
In this particular case, I think the issue is with the way the redirect is done on server level - so all the fixes i am trying to implement do not work. It seems that to solve this i need to stop the force redirect and start from scratch.

P.S. I think it's the most gentle comment i've seen from you, ever
