Default I just finished writing a book

I have been writing a book for the past several months for a guy that lives in London who plays poker and gambles for a living. He had some adventures to tell and I thought it could be a great story. So I wrote it from his perspective using notes and phone conversations we exchanged.

The trouble is, now I am not sure what the next steps are! I want to self-publish and found lulu.com and createspace.com to be my best options. I don't think it's ready for publishing yet though. It needs some work I suppose.

Would anyone be interested in reading it for me and giving me some constructive criticism? I asked my husband but he won't read anything unless it has to do with cars and engines.

I'd be happy to read it for you - sounds right up my street, especially as I also live in London and have played poker/gambled as an income in the past too.

Edit: I originally suggested Amazon then saw that it's the createspace.com option you mentioned!

Thanks to you both I must say that it is a very good feeling! Although I am mostly giving away the spotlight for the man the book is about. It's his life's story so he's going to get most of the credit. But I am going to be listed as an author and am taking care of all the work.

Just pm me with an email and I'll send over the chapters as soon as I get a chance. Just a heads up-It's really incomplete when it comes to formatting.

Congratulations but I think you'll need Proof-reading service to make sure that your book is ready for press, like xxxhttp://www.writersservices.com/services/s_proof-reading.htmxxx or xxxhttp://www.springer.com/authors/book+authors/helpdesk?SGWID=0-1723113-12-803504-0XXX

Congratulations! I think writing a book is a great achievement.

I would advise you to send a copy of the original book script to yourself (using register mail) and do not open the envelope when you get it (keep it in a safe place). This is a very good way to secure your rights to your book in case you have any future copy right legal issues. My husband is a musician and he was advised to do that when he wrote some lyrics back in the day.

You may have a gold mine in your hands; so make sure to take the appropriate steps to protected.

    All the best!

That is a good idea, I have done these kinds of things in the past for certain situations.

    Congrats!

I started writing a book a few years back that has unfortunately taken a back seat to some other projects. Will be good to know that once it is finished I can come back here and take some of those links as references.

Looking forward to seeing the final product

Congrats on writing the book! I'd be interested to read it too.
How cool would it be if it gets made into a movie?

    Hello,

I did this a while back so here is my input.

Get a good cover, I recommend 99designs I got an amazing cover for my book.

Get a professional editor. I recommend www.edit911.com the staff there is amazing and everyone who works there is super qualified and has at a minimum a PHD. It cost me $700 to edit my book including fixing all spelling mistakes, grammar errors, recommending changes if needed etc.

Add your book to the kindle http://kdp.amazon.com

Createspace is probably the next step.

I paid someone off elance to make my book Kindle compatible and repeated the same to make it createspace compatible.
